Ripped Verification System.

Well, as you all should know, Thorpe has ripped our Verified User system. He has consistently claimed he has not, while throwing in snide remarks about our site's small userbase. However, we are in the process of obtaining raw apache access logs to prove he has viewed the VU thread before he announced the idea.

Until then, why don't you compare the two systems. Please keep in mind the remarkable similarities, while ours was made before Thorpe announced that this was a system he and a few market "gurus" were working on.

When I made a thread about it, I was shamelessly and unfairly banned by Thorpe (which was agreed upon by the rest of the staff, as I only should have gotten 2 infractions, and that was only if you stretched it.)

Person A will go and register on the new forums if they like the market/use the market. Then he will continue to the application forum, fill out an application and post it. If the application looks successful then we will then do a background check, A Background check includes checking up on your IP/User name using many different RS Cheating sites + google search. If you have been banned for scamming ANYWHERE you will not be allowed. And don't try to use proxies because we pretty much have a list of every proxy in the book

Next to the address and phone confirmation We will Private Message the member on the forum and get Person A's Address and LAND Line Phone Number. We will send you a confirmation code in the mail. I know that some people are very private on what they like give out and such, but we are very sorry but this is one of the only ways to atleast eliminate a few scammers. (If there is a problem, like you have done TONS of successful trades but you do not want your parents in on what you are doing, we might can work around this, disguise it as a college letter, video game letter, or anything else. Next we use phonebook.com or any other phone to address site, and call the land line phone there. We just confirm with them the name they used on the forums and then hang up, again nothing will be given out.

1. Receive VU app. CO reads it, and begins investigation.
2. CO uses an online background check / people search to run a reverse phone search on the phone number provided. This search only works for landlines, which is why we can't accept mobile / Skype / etc numbers. The search works best for US residents, but can also work for international users with a bit of fiddling. However, since the COs are strapped for cash already and unwilling to pay $200/mo for premium background check services (that would be intra-US only anyway), COs use a free service which can be out of date if you move frequently.
3. CO compares the address returned from the reverse phone search to the given address. If it matches, CO progresses to the call. If not, you are denied with one of the above reasons. We've had several complaints about this, but there's really nothing we can do. If you were denied wrongfully, we're very sorry, but if we're unable to match your phone number with your address, we have no way of knowing whether you gave us the phone number of a friend, a payphone, a mobile, or a myriad of things which AREN'T your home landline phone. However, if you insist, Repentless will mail you something you have to reply to to be verified.

Pure coincidence. I myself have thought of nearly this exact system and how it could be implemented, and I have never been to Zamorak.
