Reusing current CPU?

Okay, so little over a year ago I bought a prebuilt computer. It has 12 gigs of ram, i7 3770k, and a now very outdated GPU.

I'm wanting to throw down about a grand on putting together something a bit more modern. So I mainly want to know, would I have any problems opening my current computer and just using the i7chip and sticking it into my new system which I plan on building? Do companies put any restrictions or such that they wont be compatible? I get any warranties would be out the window, np.

Also, would I be able to use my current ram with a different brand? my 3 sticks of 4gb ram, and then maybe another 8 gig stick? Any issues there?

As long as the motherboard has the same socket as the cpu, yes you'll be able to do this. Just clean off the thermal paste, pop it in, and then re-apply when you put it into the new rig. Just be careful handling it.

As far as the ram goes there might be an issue. I'd just throw in another 4gb stick of the same brand of ram for 4 4gb sticks. Not positive on this though and I cba double checking.

Mixing ram is never advised, but it can be done as long as they are time same timings and voltage.
