Remove this rule/sticky

As the sticky itself says, it's an oft-disregarded rule. For good reason, it's much easier to just say an iTunes code via msn than it is to physically mail out the card.

The forum we're supposed to sell the codes in is "other game markets". This is not at all intuitive, further reason to scrap this rule.

Even Nick the global mod has a thread buying codes, not physical cards, in the non-virtual items buying section.

Thoughts?

 

I'm going to have to agree with you Video. It should be removed because people realize that there is no point in mailing out a gift card. Like you said, it's easier just to say the code over a pm/msn/etc.

What I want to see is a mandatory picture with all gift card code sales. You're supposed to provide one in your thread, but numerous people don't.

 

It should be that the PROPER and SAFER way is to trade via the card itself, because of the fact that it's a physical trade.

I completely agree that iTunes and Amazon Cards should be sold only on code terms... There's no point to ship the whole thing.

I always video when receiving and using code to add to my account's balance -> That should be rule at least.

Support. I used to buy just the codes. It's ridiculous to limit to the actual card sales.

 

Mailing the card = paypal will refund you if you are charged back.

Because of that, I'll NEVER accept payment for a gift card unless I get a mailing address. I'll pay $.44 to get chargeback protection. >_<

It takes way too damn long (relatively) to ship the damn thing, and it takes away time. All in all, it's too inefficient, and is one of the many rules that could get loosened up on or removed entirely.

I'm unfamiliar with that market, but the mandatory pictures and/or videos could be just as safe, to all people in favor of the rule.

 

Agree, there is no point in actually mailing out the card. Yes, it adds security for paypal, incase you get chargedback, but I think its up the seller to request the card being mailed, not making it manditory.

Many people are pointing out that codes are easier to trade than mailing cards. That's not really the point of my suggestion, although that is true, I'm simply suggesting that we not tell people to sell their gift card codes in the "other games" section. It's unintuitive and no one does it anyway, so why even have the sticky?
