Regarding account hijacking

Recently two friends of mine got into a heated argument and both hacked each other. They both reported each other to jagex.

I was wondering if anyone knows if jagex has enough evidence just from their ips to find them both guilty of account hijacking? If so, will they both be permanently banned? How would jagex even go about proving who did what? Both already told me they've changed their ip. Neither of them used a VPN or anything else to hide their ip when it happened. So are they both screwed no matter what or? It's been over a week since they reported each other and they're both still playing, also jagex did confirm to them both that they would be investigating, but like I said that was a week ago. I have no idea how long it takes for them to investigate something like this.

 

You and your friend could both be banned over it if they investigate it. I think it's unlikely that action will be taken though.

 

Jagex uses source IP addresses to determine who the true owners are. Eventually both accounts will be locked for an indefinite amount of time- to discourage would-be hackers and to make them lose interest.

I'm sure theyll get over and stop hacking eachother eventually. Don't think theyll get banned though

 

Chances are both the accounts will get locked. If they do get banned then it's their own fault for sharing enough information with eachother in order for them to "Gain Access". I highly doubt any of your friends hacked eachother, they probably had eachothers information.

How were the both able to hack each other?

 

Mac address, ip address, location of the account creation, isp - all that stuff goes into consideration when figuring out who the true owner is of an acc

 

Since when will jagex give accnt hijacking bans..
