quick question

ok so iv ben doing random dungeons to level from 15-30

that is my current gear(horrid i know) and frost talents, what i was wondering is if i should keep doing random dungeons till 60 since i havent bought BC yet, or start doing quest. also what is a good frost mage setup? some guides say have all talents in frost, some say some in arcane and most in frost. im kinda looking towards pvp/dps.

Personally, I would stay away from acane for the lower levels. Most people will so go frost, but I really liked fire for lower levels (shit would die fast).

I would do dungeons / questing for fast exp.

 

Since you're dps it will take a while for you to get in a dungeon so while you're waiting you should quest.

 

Hmmm, Fire Spec FTW...

Considering DPS dungeon queues can take around 10 minutes, your best bet would be to quest while waiting for dungeons, instead of loitering around undercity all day xD

i tried the same thing.
depending on servers really, if your server is population is high and your "brother" servers are high too, it could take 5-10 minute q's.
servers like mine can take up to 20-30 minutes for a non 80 dps.
but questing inbetween the randoms will help the gear alot.
if you plan on staying in randoms, stay frost, the blizzard bonus is good.
if you plan on questing more than randoms, go fire, the fire damage is insane in single targets.

Ok, for one gear doesn't matter. Get all you can with int / spell / whatever until you're 80

Let me explain mage trees pre-70



Arcane = low dmg / high mana usage / low surivability

Fire = high damage / incredibly high mana usage / low survival

Frost = high damage / moderate mana usage / high survival / massive AOE

Also, grind mobs with AOE as frost as you queue for the dungeon.

Also, frost does as much if not more dmg in dungeons if you're worried about that. PLUS you have crowd control

Good luck! i've lvl'd multiple mages to 50+ just because of how fun they are to level as frost. A lot of people hate them, but if you can get AOE grinding down to the tee as frost you are amazing. I've even AOE grinded people in battlegrounds at low levels before. So much fun!

 

I didn't que for a dungeon on my mage until I hit 71, and then I ran northrend dungeons and quested at the same time.

I went from 33 to 80 in about 3 days play time. Questing will do you best, and as frost you can pretty much solo anything. Avoid dying as much as possible, and keep it up.

Your gear really doesn't matter, I had crap gear until emblem gear and had no problems leveling.

Also, offspec as Fire at 40, respec Fire to Arcane at 71.

Also, though you don't have bc yet, go to Northrend as SOON as possible. The quests are just as easy as the outlands, and the experience is double.
