Question about display names

Say I want to change the name of one of my rare accounts to something that wont be noticed when I bot on it. Can I change the account name back?

 

Yes you can always change it back after a month, however your original name may be set by another player as display name, so it's the draw of luck
If you re lucky and no one took it during ur 'bot period', so you could change it back

It takes 35 days I think for a name to be available.. So after a month you would have like 4 days to change back

 

So I could change it, then after botting take the name back again?

 

You can not set a name that is someone's login name. They're considered used because people log in with them still no matter what their display name is.

 

Thats not true, as someone has taken an original name of one of my old accounts.

 

yes, people can take your original names account as long as no one has been using it for the past 28? or so days i believe.. (dont remember exact amt of days but its around there)

No one can take it if its only been changed once.

I believe you have 35 days, not 28, to change it back. It's either 35 or 28.

Basically, as long as you changed it back within those days you'll be okay.

 

After these 28 days, you will have a period of time in which you can revert back to your previous display name, should you wish. You will have at least 7 days after the 28 days to revert to your previous display name, as it will be ‘held’ for you and unavailable to anyone else in this time. Depending on how long that name was in your possession before you changed it, you may have more than 7 days to revert to your reserved name.

 

Another question, I have heard that after changing your name, after 1 month the "last known as" thing goes away. True/false?

 

I believe that only works when you change your name back to your log-in. I may be wrong, I don't play Runescape that much.

I'm not exactly sure if you need a certain time logged in though

True. Happened to me. Now nobody can know my original login name, except those that knew me at the time, and those who ask me.
Has also happened to a bunch of people on my friends list.

Pretty sure it takes more than 1 month though, I was thinking it was 2-3.
