What do you think is going to happen there?

Will the gov't. stay in power or is it going to be overthrown?

Overthrown, I think. From what I've seen so far, the military is siding with the protesters. Usually when that happens, an overthrow will follow.

Hopefully the Egyptian government will be over thrown, I strongly support the protesters. The Egyptian military may side with the people. We will see, is anyone else watching it live from Al Jazeera?

According to the New York Times newspaper apparently they have cut off "most internet and cell phone service" too. This is definitely not a good sign and people think the government should have a "kill-switch" on the internet. Sigh, hopefully this will end very soon.

Yeah, egypt seems to be in CHAOS, I really hope everything calms down and ends up for the best, even though that may be relative?

I went to Egypt last summer and I have to say the government is really corrupt. They limit your internet usage, turn all electricity and water off for days at a time, and other things. Its in chaos and the people will probably take over.

Hopefully the Muslim Brotherhood isn't able to take over if the gov't. does fall.

Edit: President Mubarak just asked his gov't. to resign and a new one will be apponted.

I don't really know much going on over there(my mate lives there though), what I found funny they blocked access to quite a few things on the internet(Facebook, *******) because they thought it'd stop the riots. :p

There were riots in a neighboring country. Their president fled. So Egypt decided to imitate that country. They're leader is corrupt and has been in power for 30+ years and its finally boiled over. Thats the tl;dr version

Yeah, basically you can thank Wikileaks for all this. Their publishings prompted Tunisia into revolution, which is pushing Egypt, which is now apparently pushing Jordan into the same direction.

One of the cables they released detailed the corruptions of their government, and also stated that there was a growing amount of unrest. That just emboldened the people. A much better summary than I can give you can be found here.

Thanks! And I did see that Wikileaks now thinks that the U.S. is supporting the Egyptian protesters.

I would agree with that. It's all about the Suez Canal.

Yes, we need it to stay open if we don't want $200 for a barrel of oil.

I don't know what I think will happen, but I hope that the current regime is overthrown. The corruption there is ridiculous and the people are held in a vice grip. I'm rooting for the protesters 100% and I also think the U.S. government will support them despite their (the U.S. government's) backing for Mubarak in the past. Both governments are on edge about the situation and you can tell the U.S. government is angry.
