Hello there. I seriously consider to start playing WoW, but I have a few questions. I used to play WoW (only for a week or 2) about a year ago. My friend lent me his CDs and I installed them. Did this change? Do you need CD keys now? If I want to start playing from a scratch, what will it cost? On what server should I create my character? What race do you suggest for a beginning player and why? Thanks in advance.
You've always needed CD keys for your own account. Original World of Warcraft: $20 (Level 1-60) The Burning Crusade: $30 (60-70) Wrath of the Lich King: $40 (70-80) Cataclysm: $40 (80-85) Note: You can buy the battlechest for $40, which is the original game and TBC. Play on a server where you know people (like that friend you have) Race will be depending on what faction (horde or alliance) the people you know are on.
You need cd-keys to play. Whatever server you know people / have friends on would be the best. You mean class? And i would suggest a hunter / paladin.
The games are dirt cheap now. I picked up vanilla and burning crusade for just £20 (for both). Wrath of the lich king cost me £18 and Cataclysm cost me £24.99.
Thanks, everyone for the information thus far. I am considering to purchase CD Keys online to get the game cheaper, but would I risk getting scammed afterwards? Or do you only need the keys once to install the game?
the keys are not needed to install the game, they are needed to upgrade your account on the battle net website. you will need the key afterwards if you ever need to ring blizzard to recover your account if for any reason it became compromised. personally i prefer having physical proof that the account is mine/ If you cannot get it at the store, you can also upgrade your account directly from the blizzard store. and remember, you cannot go directly to cataclysm if you do not have the previous expansions
