Personal Experience with Chaotics

First of I already read the sticky so don't bring that up.

I know that for PVP its best to get the maul or the rapier.

What I want to know is for all the people out there that have actually pked and had quite a bit of experience with either weapon, did it work out for you? Would you have picked the other one ( Maul or Rapier)?

Please only reply to this if YOU HAVE a chaotic weapon and have had experience player killing with it.

I'm obviously looking for PERSONAL opinions no statistics , I know the rapier is faster and the maul is stronger but, like I stated before I'm only looking for PERSONAL experience. :laugh:

Okay, here's my opinion and I have had both a Maul and a rapier, the maul hits consistently high on rune (400+) making it good for a combo with AGS or D claws, this means you're risking a lot though.
The rapier hits consistent 250+ on rune, but maxes out in the high 400's with turmoil, so once again a high hitting spec weapon is very nice. If you use a dragon defender you can combo extremely well with it.
Overall, I like the maul more as I find it K/O,s very often when paired with vengeance. An extra spec weapon is not as necessary as it is with the rapier, making it cheaper to pk with. That said, the rapier has more uses outside of Pvp if that matters to you at all.

The chaotic maul is a really good weapon for K.O'ing people, and is really effective against people who have high defence and good armour. If you are a high leveled pker, a maul would be a excellent option.

If you are a pure, then you should get the rapier, because it's consistent and powerful.

With your stats, I think you should get the rapier as it would give you more versatility, due to the fact that there is an extra slot for a shield or a defender.

As a Zerker? Get the Chaotic Maul. I'll show you why.
This is a friend of mine. He has nearly equal stats as you. The combos are awesome.

 

The staff is fun to hit that epic 490 with Ice Barrage.
The crossbow is cool if you're a range tank. The accuracy difference between that of a rune crossbow is definitely noticeable.
The longsword is best in terms of pure DPS, but since you can eat twice in between swings, it may not be the best.

As for the shields (yes, those exist as well)...

The farseer kiteshield is epic. I would recommend it over an arcane spirit shield if you're fighting meleers and rangers. Combine the shield with Zuriel's or Virtus and your damage soaking for Melee attacks is 40%, which means an 800 hit from Melee is reduced to 560. This shield has saved my life many times.

The eagle eye kiteshield is alright if you're ranging and fighting mages. It's better than a spectral spirit shield.

The chaotic kiteshield is pretty lame, unless you're a range tank. For Melee you'd want to use a defender.

 

Here's why the maul owns:

Flip on turmoil. Claws (or AGS) spec, vengeance, claws (ags) spec again. If, by now they are still not yet dead, whip out maul and hit up to 600 for the KO. Very few people can keep up with this kind of damage per second, even with Phoenix neck and brews.

The rapier can perform a combo, but it's easier to counter. A decent rapier combo is:

Rapier hit until he's lowish HP; cast vengeance; do two specs; hit rapier again hopefully for a 400.

On topic, I got a maul and a rapier, only two Im going to get till 99.
It's basically what you expect, rapier is nice and fast, and maul just owns.
Personally I like the maul, it looks epic, hits epic, owns epic!

Claws make up for rapier lack to k0.

Maul is awesome for PVP
Longsword sucks
Rapier is just meh
Staff is awesome for hybriding or mage fights.

 

I have all and I like Longsword overall, but I hardly PVP

Anyway, for PVP I'd say that the maul is the best out of them all because it hits very high regularly. It's also great with Granite Maul for your spec wep.

 

In my opinion maul owns at pvp and rapier owns at pvm

 

Maul + Veng combo for pking owns.

 

Chaotic Maul. Enough said.

 

i have a rapier and when i first bought it i thought i was going to be hitting 40+ and getting tons of combo's but i cant tell the difference between a whip and rapier

 

To be honest I used to use chaotic longsword and it was really nice. I used to do whip and use chaotic longsword as a 2nd weapon. If they didn't die on first hit they would on second 80%. But for using 1 weapon only I would prefer Rapier as I have used that also. Never used maul so not sure about it.

 

I like the rapier the best for pking because I just combo it with gmaul.
