I'm contemplating starting online school. I'm a junior in high school and every day is just dreadfully boring, long, and I'm not learning anything and still passing classes. There are a lot of dumb rules and useless stuff that are just unbearable. I'm wondering if anyone could list (preferably first hand experience) the pros/cons of online school.

and no i'm not a social reject who has no friends and sits all alone at lunch or gets picked on etc.

I've heard that certain online classes/courses or websites altogether might not be acknowledged or accepted by colleges. I don't really have much proof of that or any other information, but if you do decide to go the online route make sure you ask the college(s) you might plan on going to if they'll accept classes completed from them.

Edit: Also, you may want to (if it's not too late) see if you can graduate early, or, if your school allows it, just make your schedule next year less than a full day (so you can leave early, etc)

Wouldn't recommend online classes. They are even more dreadfully boring than actual classes. If you're not a "social reject who has no friends and sits all alone at lunch or gets picked on etc." Online classes are far more picky with studies than regular public schools or regular classes. Plus there is no help if you have a question or need time to turn in an assignment for a teacher.

Online was not a fun experience, and expensive. It lasted a very little bit before I grew impatient and decided online is not the way to go for me. You might think differently. Honestly, I think the better choice would be sticking in regular classes and graduating with your friends.

I personally feel that if it's part of the experience of schooling - if you really feel bored, then try to excel in school. It really pays off as you're able to go into tertiary education and do a job that you won't find even more boring and mundane for the rest of your life.

As another user said, a lot of online facilities are not recognized by colleges and until you're done with it you won't really see how potential employers (or colleges) will view your education.

A lot of people go through the feeling of being bored throughout school, but I really don't feel like online schooling is the solution.

Goodluck with whatever you decide^_^ .

When i was about 14 we had to do online classes for maths, which were abotu 30minutes a week, they were okay, but its much easier having a teacher explain it to you rather than a computer when it comes to maths, personally didn't like it and ended up not doing it :L

I wouldn't recommend it. My favorite part about school is seeing friends and you can't do that without school.

If you're having trouble staying attentive in class or you find it boring what makes you think you'll be able to push through online courses? I for one know I wouldn't be able to because I lack the mental discipline.
