offered mod position?

I got messages everytime i logged in from "account info" telling me I've been selected for a mod position. I have my private chat on friends and he/she isn't on my friends list. They told me to go to runescape-official dot tk and i did which brought me to the runescape home page which said i said visited 39times today in the history of my browser. i logged in like instructed but didn't see anything like the account described to me. it said i would get 50m for being a mod. now i'm not gullable but this kinda hooked me. i just changed my password a bunch to be safe. any ideas? has this happened to you?

 

It's a phishing site that resembles the rs home page. You're lucky they didnt retrieve your password before they changed it, usually they ddos and then clean you in seconds

They messaged me the same thing about a hour ago, just ignore all the PMs you receive telling you to go to any websites. Change your password on a different computer or laptop if you can and make sure to scan your computer.

 

Just ignore them its fake when you right click there name on the PM you get it says there real RSN just put them on ignore and report easy

 

dot tk are notorious sites for phishing. Never trust a dot tk is the way i have figured it out and never trust anything that anyone tells you in RS. If they want you to be mod you will get a message in your message centre most likely, not a friend message. This is one of the oldest tricks in the book. Mods don't get paid for one, and Runescape is a .com domain not a dot tk. This was very obvious.

 

the odd thing was tho, when i logged in it brought me to the page like normal. i was able to go to the forums, ect.

 

Did the address bar say runescape.com? It was probably just a clever reflection page

The ONLY way Jagex will contact you about becoming a Player/Forum Moderator is via the in-game messaging system. They will never ask you in-game and there is no such website that you can sign up to do to get one. Jagex pick their mods similarly to how they are picked here.

best thing to od now is to quickly get another computer and change your password there

 

They now have your recent password and log in name, you are at risk but very little. I wouldn't be worried.

 

Why would you even go there in the first place, obvious phis :S

 

As long as you weren't dumb enough to actually enter your username and password. oh wait... lol... you were phished, but did the smart thing and already changed your password. Should be safe.

 

Did you lose anything? Like did they have access to your account?

 

Make sure you got recovs and an email!
