Nuclear weapons

I think in the right hands they can be used as a great tool. Although they need to watch out for N. Korea and Iran. If they get nukes (they might already I don't know) then were screwed.

 

I think they are immoral as that much destructive power should not be in the incapable hands of man..though the current situation of the world seems to demand a higher power to eliminate when nothing else can be done.

 

I spent some time looking for the book it came from, but couldn't find it... look it up: the author is Jonathan Schell.

It doesn't matter how small the probability... when you're faced with an outcome like extinction, going off the previous equation, the risk is still substantial (even infinity).

What? Any aliens advanced enough to reach Earth will most likely be so technologically superior that nuclear weapons may not be any more effective than conventional ones.

 

The aliens wanted the nuclear weapons destroyed for the exact reason you said. they knew if something were to happen, it would ruin the planet, its resources, and themselves.

not true. just because they are advanced enough to do one thing, doesn't mean they're advanced enough to do another. We can travel in space, but we're still dressing ourselves right?
