I want to create something really time consuming that will look really cool, like a building or city or something, but the problem is, I don't know how. I know HOW, but not HOW. XD How do i create a "custom" server like the ones that are multiplayer? Or is it a mod pack or whatever... I'd like infinite materials to make this, as it'll take awhile anyway, and I'd like to open it to the public then eventually. Info pl0x.
Go here: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Programs_and_editors Find an inventory editor and use it to spawn infinite materials. You will probably not be able to do it in multiplayer servers, unless spawning is allowed. In that case I believe you won't need the 3rd party program.
In multiplayer you'll need plugins. You can then spawn any items you need... To create a simple server, use Bukkit... Hundreds of plugins and updated regularly. Need help? Pm me or add my msn
