Alright... so I want to buy a new mp3 player, the problem is.. I don't know which one, I'm thinking about either buying an iPod classic 80gb or a Microsoft Zune 80gb. Basically this is just a thread for people to show their oppinions, please vote on the poll AND post on my thread saying why you voted it. (Not some cheap reason like: OMG IT OWNZ!) since that doesn't really help me. Thanks! EDIT: Yea okay, it's a mp4 player, my bad.
I got the classic just after it come out and i am very pleased with it. I cannot comment with Microsoft's alternative because i know very little about it. From my point of view the Ipod range is the best. Why? well i think that overall quality is better than other leading brands. The localised batteries are long lasting. Okay ive only had it 7 months but i have not noticed a drop in battery life what so ever. Also lets talk about Itunes. All of my friends have this nifty piece of software but many of them do not actually have an Ipod. This says it all. Itunes is certainly one of the leaders in Music Playing Software. As i said before i cant comment on the alternative but i am very happy with my Ipod Classic. Hope this helps
the ipod is in my case easier to use and can be used in ways i never thought used by many but has it's downfalls. zune is alright mine has a HD looking video format looks way better than my ipod.but songs are harder to DL
mp4 player? R0fl. Go for something new and improved. The nanos and the touch are both quite nice MP3 players.
Featurewise, I'd say the Zune wins. But the iPod's design looks much slicker (especially compared to the brown Zune). I would stick with the iPod as most of the Zune's features would go unused (unless you like the radio). I have an iPod touch, but I'm assuming you need the Classic because of the storage space. If the classic is anything like the 5th Generation Video, I'd say to give it a shot, I dunno why everyone thinks iPods break so easily, my 5th gen video has been dropped, sat on, etc. and still works.
Personally I like the iPod only because if you aren't serious with music and you use Warez or torrents for music its better, just put it right into iTunes 1, 2, Step, fast and easy, but remember this is just my own personal opinion.
Apple's insistence on proprietary software, file formats, etc. does nothing but make life harder and less varied for users. I have heard some good about Microsoft's player but since they're still new to this market maybe it's not the right time to trust theirs yet.
I prefer the Ipod Classics, they are awesome and a good starter Mp3 to buy, they are something like a future gadget
