little internet problem..

i have been having a problem with my internet.

it goes fine and strong like it normally does then it lags horribly for about 5 seconds then starts back strong again. its about every 5 minutes or so that it does this. for example, i play rs, and when i do so when this happens my charecter stops moving and i log out automaticly and i dont even get a lost connection screen it just freezes there for about 5 seconds then goes to the log in screen.

this is very odd and i have no idea what it is.. any ideas?

 

if you are running on dsl or broadband id suggest unplugging the modem and leaving it unplugged for about 15 mins, then plugging everything back in, then wait for the internet to start up again(a few mins) then it should be all good.

 

More info?? Is it wireless ? Ethernet? Dial-up?

 

well its a cable modem, to a wireless router to my laptops wi-fi

i also tried switching off my wifi and connecting the ethernet cord directly but it changed nothing. il try what jackiec said

 

yea this happens to me all the time, i called tech support and all they told me was were it was wireless the signal would sometime get interuped from the router to my computer which caused the freezing and skipping of the internet, so get rid of wireless(it sucks neways) lol

 

Wireless, so yeah , maybe a better router would do good.

 

you can try and call your internet provider and im sure they can take a look at it ( they should do it for free tbh)

 

Are you at the end (or right near) a very long road?

 

Looks like a problem with your browser, eh? Try reinstalling your browser and holding the reset button on your router and modem for 2 minutes(120 seconds for dummies) if that doesent work, contact your ISP.
