linux help?

hey im having big issues with ubuntu linux, 10.10, i installed on a shitty old pc of mine, dell dimension 2100 to be a slave pc, but when i first booted the pc it gives me a black screen with a prompt to login with username/pass, it seems like when i try and input the pass, no characters show up, like it wont type in the password area

any other good linux os systems you can refer me to for minimal usage, i need the bare minimum for my botting and please if you can provide link also, btw i have a 32bit.

 

Well, it could be that your keyboard is fucked up and didn't "install" properly.

try Damn Small Linux
or if you don't need the GUI you can try Kanotix. I had knoppix too that runs from a cd. just a few options though

 

Password characters don't hash out like they usually do in Windows. You're still typing properly it just wont display it.

 

You sure? I had a problem with Ubuntu when I first got it where my keyboard wouldn't work. T

Try unplugging it and plugging it back in and restarting your PC.
