I'm not really fond of the idea in the first place anyway. As Burdock said, this is a forum. It would be really unnecessary for a like button on a thread around here anyway. In a way, thats what the thread rating is used for.

This is very similar to the rep/thanks system which is on the The DO NOT SUGGEST list. But I suppose this is more like the liking system on Facebook, as you say and the thumbs up thing on YouTube.
I don't think it's a bad idea, so long as it is not done as a rep/thanks system, just says by the sad of the post how many '+1s' it's got or something.

Possibly replace the star thread rating system with 'likes' and 'dislikes'.

However, I imagine this will be quite hard to implement, therefore I don't see this happening. Although, I do think the star rating system should be more.. Brought to attention, so people rate threads more often. It seems to be quite a neglected feature at present.

Yes it does seem neglected, but - for most threads on this forum, there are many threads that only require a simple answer to confirm someones question.

Example: RS General or RS Cheating section - someone asks about a question about a particular skill. The thread gets filled with others opinions and doesn't really need a thread rating.

In other cases such as people trying to run businesses, the rating system is used quiet often.

Just depends on how you look at it I guess

If the rating system was brought to attention, I believe it could help many areas of the forum including the User Services section.

    Yeah didn't think I'd get many yes's.

    Worth a shot.

I don't support, as I don't think sythe needs to turn into Facebook. :(
