Lane swapping

Why do people (pro teams specifically) do this? If you don't know what I mean, it's when the top laner goes bot and the sup and adc go top. What's the purpose of doing this?

 

if you look closely at the minimap, the jungle entrances differ on the two sides, top and bottom, they do this for the more advantageous entrance.

 

Usually they want to take towers fast, so the ADC/supp duo will push to tower and take tower within 10 minutes, then move back bot.

 

as superman stated above plus some 2v1 were really good for some comps, while for enemy was awfull.

 

There are many reasons why a lane would swap. The top three reason would be:

1: Easy and safe lane for ADC/Support
2: Easy lane control
3: Matchup advantage

 

This has pretty much nothing to do with it.

They lane swap in order to give a safer laning phase for a weaker lane. Ex: Vayne/Janna

On the other hand people also do it in order to shutdown a top laner that requires considerable farm/gold to make an impact. Item reliant.

 

Just in time to go back bot to get a 3 man kill on the botlane and take drag off of it.

 

Works well if you have early game adc and can take turret before bot lane does. Otherwise it isn't really worth it.

Usually in the LCS it's because they want to weaken that strong solo lane, like say they want to deny Dyrus some early farm so they send bot lane up to give him some early problems and slow down his end game strength. It all depends on how the jungler can take advantage of situations and 1 mistake by the lane swapping team and it can all be over.

 

I don't understand if one team lane swaps, why doesn't the other team do that too?

 

strategy. most of the time it works out for both team plus it would be a waste of time (exp/gold) backing then swapping lane.

 

you clearly have no idea what you are talking about, you are saying that the jungle entrances have no advantages whatsoever? you are clearly bad, will never buy from you.

 

I'm pretty sure he means its not one of the MAIN reasons for lane swapping... A jungler should be able to gank with the resources he has available.

Direchampion is clearly not bad; im sure he is far more experienced than you.

The reason you provided is fairly negligible. If your top laner is a bad in a 1v2 situation then you're not going to switch him just so your bottom lane can avoid a possible gank.

Outside of the comments above, (not sure if that has been mentioned before) there has been some testing of a triple smite team in which the adc/support/jungler all take smite.

This strategy works by switching the adc/support mid and have them attempt to take a buff from the enemy jungler level 1. The smite also allows your adc/support to take camps for additional farm and acquire dragon control.

Some asian team got 1st in a tournament. I'm not sure of the specifics, so if somebody else could provide them that'd be great, a bit busy right now to go and scour reddit for it.

Sort of related: In lower ranked solo queue, I always take smite when I play Nidalee mid. A level one trap into smite on whichever buff the enemy jungler is doing (preferably blue, of course) is a free 2/3 of a level plus a massive lane advantage

 

I've always thought about this..

 

Most of the reasons people lane swap are because they don't like the lane and they would prefer their adc to free farm (vayne). Or they think they can get the tower faster top lane and rotate bot afterwards and end up +1 towers of the enemy team. Or the enemy top laner has a terrible time last hitting under tower and your top laner doesn't.

 

I ask for swaps if I get HARD countered at times. Being a top laner, I'd rather 2v1 and have my adc/sup guarenteed a tower and their top behind than risk getting their top fed if i misplay.
