Lakers vs. Celtics

Which team, Lakers or Celtics, have had the most successful and best franchise in the history of the NBA? Please be sure to include facts, opinions, and thoughts.

 

Celtics, do you even watch basketball? Lakers are close but Celtics franchise wise have been on top. We'll just have to wait until this years championship to see if Celtics remain #1.

 

Celtics might have dominated the 60s and early, early 70s but... It took them nearly 20 years to win another 7-9 titles.

The Lakers have been in the big dance over 30 times.

I'll stick with the OG 1-2 punch over 3-5 HOFs needed to win a title.

I'd have to go with Lakers. They've been a well-known team since before the new generation. I still have my old PlayStation 1 games and on the cover of the NBA game is the Lakers. Honestly, the best role the Lakers had was when they had the dynamic duo of Kobe Bryant and Shaq O'Neal. Though the Lakers aren't my favorite team, they're one of the most well known teams in the NBA, and hell they must make a lot of money. Don't get me wrong, Celtics weren't one of those shitty want to be teams, but they had their ups and downs, and off years as every other team. Even if the Lakers don't win the Championship, they put out a hell of a fight.

 

Are we going by wins or sales/etc success?

Cuz Championship Wins... it's already over. Like Kobe Said, "I Got one more ring than shaq"

Celtics got 2 more than lakers. Nah mean?

 

Overall franchise is still Celtics but if the Lakers 3-Peat again this year I'd say it goes to LA.

Celtics, look how many times the lakers have LOST in the finals compared to the Celtics, 30+ appearances with only 16 wins? If that was the C's we would be tied with the NYY with 27 Championships. Len Bias died in 1986 and so didn't Reggie Lewis in 93. So with those 2 we probably would of won another 5 Championships. Boston is still #1

 

Lakers because the celtics dominated just 1 era and won most of their championships then, but the lakers have been more consistent and won it in almost every era. The lakers have had better players as well and they have gone to the nba finals half the total times the finals has been played
