Kobe vs. LeBron

Recently at my school a huge battle has broken out on who is better Kobe Bryant or Lebron James.

I personally believe that LeBron James is better. Based on career totals.

I do not believe in comparing championships. If you compare championships it is comparing a team rather than the induvidual.

Yeah but it can show who can preform in clutch situations, especially when you're the star player on the team who is being counted on.

But yeah I agree Lebron is probably a better player.

Kobe's 81 point game though was sick

I see where you're coming from, but we can't disregard the championships. The ring symbolizes more than a win June, it symbolizes the effort, dedication, commitment, blood, sweat, work ethic, and skill of an individual and the part they contributed to the championship - in Kobe's case he played a very large role. LeBron is a very good player, don't disregard that, but are we going to see him rise to his true potential? We don't know.

 

kobe is better in my opinion as an individual and team player... stats isn't everything, which is all lebron has and it isn't all that much better than kobe's at all...

kobe performs much better in tight/clutch situations and how many games has he put away in the 4th qrt, let alone the final 10 secs? kobe finishes and win games, while lebron just puts up stats.

lebron is still young so he has a lot of time to learn but as of right now, kobe is the more dominant player.

but then again, in a team sport, you cant truly compare them individually unless you match them up one on one...

Well you have to take championships into account when considering who's better. Kobe has played in 6 NBA Finals and won 4. He is also much more clutch that LeBron is. LeBron will probably go down as the BEST regular season player to ever play the game because of his epic stats in those 82 games. But come playoff time, there is no doubt in my mind that Kobe Bryant is better. That is why I say kobe bryant is better than Lebron james because basketball is a team sport and a player is judged by how much he wins, not by his stats.

 

Question is who is better lebron or kobe not lakers or cavs. The lakers seem to put a better supporting cast around kobe while cavs think lebron= instant ring but they are wrong. If lebron had a team like kobe there would be no doubt in him getting a ring. In all 4 times that kobe won the finals he had a premiere post player on his team while lebron either had a aging shaq or inexperienced zydrunas ilgauskas. No individual player in the league can single handedly get you a ring and that's, that. Now as far as the question goes who is better i think lebron is, although kobe is most likely the best game closer the league has ever seen, meaning he can come through almost everytime in the clutch.

 

Kobe actually leads his team, lebron screws up when needed the most.

 

People have to realize straight up. Kobe is better. Kobe is a pure shooter, he can create his own shot, be Mr.Clutch when the time comes, hes like a dynamic shooter, 2nd youngest player to ever start a NBA Game(Andrew Bynum is youngest) Kobe was even great when he had Shaq, he was just over shadowed my Shaq's NBA Whore image. Kobe is simply the one of the best players to ever play the game. Hes defiantly in the top 3 of all time players.

I have nothing against Lebron James, he is simply a monster, i personally dont mind the guy. In my opinion, Lebron can not create his own shot, he has to use his size, and strength to even get to the rim or pull up for a jumper. If Lebron doesn't have any backup when he plays bad, then the whole teams going to lose. Kobe helps make players, Lebron James is just all by himself. Ex: Antwan Jamison, before he got traded to the Cavs, he was averaging close to 21 Pts a game, and 10 Bounds, when he was with the cavs he averaged 12 Points and 6 Bounds, Lebron, can not carry a team, and he does not make players.

Kobe can carry a team, and make players. Kobe is probably tied 2nd for the purest shooter in NBA history, Just because i think Ray Allen is first.

Lebron, is strong and powerful, and will win a championship one day. Kobe already has 4, and proved to critics he could do it without Shaq. There both great players.

 

I'm pretty sure Lebron has put all his effort into the playoffs (maybe not this year), but the two years before that. He took his team single handedly to the NBA championship in 2007. Last year when they lost to the magic in the Eastern Conference Lebron was averaging somewhere around 40 points.

 

I like how you said Zydrunas Ilgauskas is inexperienced. He played in the cavs since 96.
Back on topic, kobe is a better clutch player, he has more rings and currently going for the championship. James is a better team player, but hes not always consistent. Kobe is a bigger ball hog, but he gets the job done. I say that Kobe is a better player

 

what experience playoff wise did he have before lebron came into the picture? Playoffs experience and regular season experience are 2 totally different things.

Kobe has been in the NBA for 13 years and his numbers are still close to Lefags. Lefag has been in the NBA for 6 years and is on a team where he's the only good player, so obviously someone has to score and it's Lefag. Kobe plays in a tougher conference and still manages to put up those numbers, while Lefag plays in a easy division and barley puts up higher numbers. Kobe is better, Lakers are the best team in the NBA by far.
May I also add that Lefag is a terrible jump shooter and relies on his size and strength to get to the basket to dunk or layup for his points. He also rarely hits clutch shots, unlike Kobe who puts up crazy clutch shots and is one of the best shooters in the NBA.

Eh stat wise Lebron is better, and Lebron is a great player, but so is Kobe. When it comes down to it i would have to say Kobe in the long run. LeBron chocked most of the playoffs, and it wasnt all his fault but he didnt perform at his normal level.
