Got a fairly old compaq desktop .. keeps freezing every minute or two, everything just totally freezes up, then goes back to normal after about 20 seconds .. only just started doing this today, been fine recently otherwise. Seems to happen more when I am switching tabs on browser. I appreciate my pc is a hunk of crap. Vista home premium Google Chrome intel(R) Celron(R) CPU e1400 @ 2.00GHZ RAM 2gb Avai memory 719mb Total virtual memory 4.21gb
Okay, let's try to sort this out. First off, try reverting back to a recovery point before the time that this started to happen. Was any new software installed? If so, try to uninstall that software and check. If that does not work, I would say it's most likely a hardware problem. Run a check on your HDD to see if there are any errors, do the same for your registry whilst you are at it. That should hopefully fix it, if not, it may be something to do with your power supply.
Did it work? Post back here again if the problem persists so we can try to find alternate solutions for you.
