    Java = Warm Macbook Pro

Recently, I've been playing Runescape on my Mac a lot more than my PC and it has been causing my laptop to run a bit on the warmer side.

I was told Java causes Apple products to run warm. If anyone has any experience and solution to this, I would greatly appreciate something to help me eliminate this issue.

Honestly, macbooks have simply the most piss poor cooling solutions ever created. Even HP laptops have better cooling, and they're famous for heat issues. Because there is no way of forcing outside air into the machine via a cooling pad like most other laptops, there's simply nothing you can do but sell that junk and get a real laptop if you want to run intensive software. Either that, or just let it run hot. I suggest you install a monitoring program so you can watch your temps. Mobile hardware can handle a lot of heat by design, but it will shorten its life.

I have a custom gaming computer but it's on the moving truck still, therefore, I've been using my Macbook to play Runescape while I wait.

Running warm a few days won't hurt it, hopefully?

Played RS on a macbook pro for about a year. While it definitely did run hot, I experienced no issues. You should be fine :)

MacBooks have custom engineering to make the biggest possible parts (though not the best or the most efficient, just large) fit together in the smallest space. Being that they're all close, macs are notoriously compartmentalized when it comes to cooling, so their fans don't cool key components such as the PSU for example. The best way to fix it is contact cooling with cooling gel pads, or even those laptop stands with built in fans that buffet the bottom with air. It's not very efficient, but it helps with the heat.

^wtf is this guy on about.

You'll be fine. I've run mobile CPUs at 90c and above for weeks without problems by subjecting it to F@h. This program will make any laptop heat up while running..its far more intensive than anything you will do with your computer. I had a macbook very briefly, and it would shoot straight up to 100c and immediately throttle To about 1.4ghz to attempt to protect itself from reaching the thermal ceiling. While throttling it would settle out at around 102. 105 is thermal shutdown ceiling.
You'll be fine. Your temps are likely around 80-85 with full clock speeds, and this is nothing to worry about.

I'm on about the specs reason as to why your MacBook rested at 102C. Their cooling system is handicapped to make way for their fitted hardware

Their hardware is no different than what is put into any other laptop with equivalent hardware. Their i7 or i5 is no different than another low-tdp mobile equivalent in another laptop. If the laptop has a dedicated GPU like a gtx 6xx-m or 7xx-m or so on...its the same as what goes into any other laptop with a 6x0/7x0/8x0m. Hard drives... Same size. Ram? Again, no difference in size. All of the components are no different physically to their windows counterpart. Intel didnt make a tiny i7-4700mq for windows and a ten-inch by ten-inch i7 4700mq for the macs. You've lost your mind if you think otherwise. My old sager was roughly five times more powerful than the most capable Mac on the market TODAY. And it could run f@h WITHOUT throttling(at turbo boost clocks) at around 85 on the CPU with both GPUs loaded also.

My current MSI is thinner than the mac pros, far far more powerful, prettier, and still runs cooler.

The only difference is that the macs are actually coming with generally INFERIOR hardware to what you can get from a real, proper laptop in that price range. On top of that, their inferior hardware is cooled by a system that was designed by inbreds.

You're not reading what I say, obviously. Their hardware is arranged in a way that compartmentalizes the case, effectively sectioning off a lot of the hardware from the fans. Hence the cooling issue. For the third time.

So, the hardware can't be cooled because the fans are blocked?

Also, why does Java, and not anything else, cause the computer to run hot?

Runescape is pretty resource-consuming, your computer is just working hard to run the game over an extended period of time

You have no worries. I run a Macbook Air laptop and botted up to 5 accounts for a couple months and have no problems with it being defective or anything of the sorts.

When I had a mac (which I sold ~1 year ago) it would overheat like crazy with just a youtube video. So no, I don't think Java does it alone.
