Is there a difference?

So, I hit plat a few days ago, and ever since all my friends have been bitching and shit saying "anything under diamond 1 is all the same" and things like that, saying there's no skill difference bronze 5 - diamond 2. I mean I obviously am calling BS on that because I notice a skill difference every new league (silver -> gold, gold -> plat)

What's your opinion? Where do you think the least amount of skill change is / the most?

 

im mid plat (euw) and when i played on my cousins account (Bronze 3) i was on a 16 winning streak playing ADC, boosted till silver I (stopped because i had no more time).
I mean the higher you climb, the higher the skill goes up. If it woulnd't be that way, it would make no sense

 

There is a skill difference.

 

There's definitely a skill change between the tiers. I've heard that high Diamond 1 is very different from all of the other Diamond divisions.

 

Maybe not as specific as people in Silver V are much better than people in Bronze 1 but within limits yeah there's definitely a skill difference otherwise everyone would be getting diamond II.

 

I see that there's a jump in the probability that you have a good teammate.

Trolls are in every tier, no matter what you do. That hasn't gone away in the 3 weeks i've climbed from Bronze to Gold IV. But the quality of the average person (not the troll) has improved.

 

That's what I try to tell them.. Obviously there's not gonna be a difference Gold 1 100 LP and Plat 5 0 LP. But there sure is a difference in skill from Gold 5 to Plat 1.

 

There's differences everywhere. I'm only in high silver but a bronze 3 friend of mine let me go on his account for a game and I carried so hard. I also got to go on a plat account a few times and I still do well but it's a lot more challenging then what I'm used to.

 

Hm.. Put simply, your friends are either complete morons, or they're prone to hyperbole.

I call Platinum "ELO Heaven" when I'm boosting because I tend to get much better teams with many fewer trolls from mid-Plat V upward.

As a general rule, there is most definitely a large skill gap between high Diamond and low Diamond; however, I've found plenty of exceptions in my gameplay.

 

I've got a diamond 1 friend and he tells me that the difference from d5->d1 is huge.
