IRC closure

You would have no idea how to run an IRC and have no knowledge of IRC works. Its obvious you're just in it for the status.

EDIT: there are people way more qualified than you as well.

 

I don't think Shawn or anybody using the IRC would approve of the IRC being run the way Sythe wants it, so it's highly doubtful that you'd find help from those experienced enough to know how to set up anything of the sorts.

 

To be quite honest, I've been on the IRC for quite a long time now, almost two years, and I don't think those requests are unacceptable. (At the people who are calling it ''outrageous'').

It's Sythe's DNS after all, and if it's going to be the official IRC server, it doesn't seem unfeasible to use staff members as the Official Sythe.org IRC staff, too. And I think we should at least have some rules like that.

 

I knew it would come to this eventually as too many people bitch about oper abuse and the like. I understand Finn's point but i also see the point where it is Shawn paying for the shell and managing the IRC and services. Honestly i dont see why the irc couldnt have been set up with a little compromise from Shawn and Richard. Oh well. ugh.

If I wanted to manage a server that followed those rules I was given that option.

The IRC has never had those three rules, the only one in place was staff members get access. Curt had that implemented when he ran the IRC.

If the staff want to be the staff on the IRC, the staff are more than welcome to pay for and run it.

No not Inventor. Just have Darren owning it? He could oper the old people and the staff. (oper's can fix IRC)

 

I don't think any of the old staff want to go back, and Darren wouldn't know how to set up IRC from scratch.

I don't think there are many people here that know how to setup an IRC server from scratch let alone make the (not necessary) adjustments made to the server source files that we used.

 

With a little bit of help from a friend I know it could bet setup but not all the perks you had in it. I would like to use the IRC and help set it up but without all the veterans it seems like it would be a bit upsetting.

 

Wouldn't it be difficult to ban everyone who was banned on Sythe? Well, it is Sythe's DNS so it's up to him if I'm not mistaken. But, hopefully Shawn_ and Sythe can reach terms and reestablish the old IRC, which I was not familiar with.

 

Highly doubtful. Shawn isn't going to change his mind, and I don't think Sythe is either.

 

I agree, completely. The veterans are what makes the IRC (and some other people ). But no one replaces them .

 

Funny thing is, 'rune' sounds remarkably similar to ruin.

Anyway, the only people that could do it are the same people that Sythe has alienated over the years.

It was directed at the people who are calling Sythe's requests 'outrageous'. I don't find it outrageous if it was on his DNS. If you want to maintain your personal own server, have whatever rules on it as you please.
