    Interesting Question about Time

An argument can be made for each of those answers.

A: As you approach midnight, the amount of balls in the room will approach infinity.

B: The amount of balls will approach infinity, but half will end up being thrown out.

C: Every ball thrown into the room will eventually be thrown out, so none can remain.

D: If you keep approaching midnight in half-time intervals, you will never actually reach it.

In actuality, given an infinite-sized room, zero throwing time, etc., the room would be filled with infinite sized balls.

    Interesting Question about Time

Since the amount of time it takes for each ball to come back divides by two, there will be a point where all the balls come out but also, divided into two (I mean, the total amount). So there would be no way of telling this seeing the decimals involved would become fairly large.

Now thinking of this logically, it would be impossible to throw balls in at the exact time they get back because of the very short time (i.e. 1/1000 of a second). But theoretically, say if you could. There would obviously be infinite balls since infinite can not deplete.

What about my answer? I gave the longest response and actually thought out. Those kids just randomly guessed.

    Interesting Question about Time

Midnight never comes. Assuming that no time is taken to throw the balls in and for them to be thrown back out and assuming that it happens at exactly half the time every single time midnight will never come because no matter how small the time gets you will always cut it in half.

    Interesting Question about Time

Well based on the information given, midnight will never come. You can't divide anything to nothing.

Then again, the more you think about it the more you can argue any of the 4 points.

    I've gone crosseyed

    Interesting Question about Time

First, midnight will come. Independent of the balls and the door, 12 minutes will pass. I really can't see how the act of throwing and infinite amount of balls through a door would stop time. Or slow it down exponentially so it never reaches midnight.

Why? Because time is abstract. Time isn't a physical phenomenon, it's just a term that man made up to organize his life. That's why I believe that 12 minutes will pass, no matter how many balls go through the door.

What I think will happen though, is that there will be an infinite number of balls outside as well as inside the door.Theoretically speaking, of course, so basically you go from having an infinite amount of balls outside the door to having an infinite amount on both sides.

    Interesting Question about Time

If time is infinite wouldn't it make the object infinite?

Infinity is infinity. There are an infinite number of balls in the room, if you throw a thousand in, or only one.
And if midnight never comes, then the question itself becomes defunct.
