Hey guys, I was thinking about making some improvements to my computer, what would you guys suggest? I was thinking maybe a ssd, i'm not sure though. CPU: I7 3770k, at 4.0 ghz Cpu cooler: Hyper Evo or whatever, the one from coolermaster RAM: 16gb of corsair vengance, biggest fuckin ram ever I hate it especially in my small case HDD: some 500gb hdd Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119196 That peice of shit Gpu: no gpu, I run hd 4000. I don't game or do anything gpu intensive. Oh yeah, here's my mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157295 Extreme 6, I don't really like it I want a asus one, the colors on this are horrid Power supply is some corsair 500w
Are those your current specs or what you are thinking of upgrading to? If you're not using a GPU you might want to upgrade to haswell for the better integrated graphics.
I would definitely get an SSD. You'll get a faster boot time and you can install your most used applications on there for better performance and overall responsiveness. My top recommendation for a 240GB drive would be the Intel 520 because it comes with a 5 year warranty and has really nice specs (but is a little expensive), but some other good options are the Samsung 840 and the Crucial M4.
SSD definitely. 120GB minimum, intel, crucial, plextor, corsair, sandisk, samsung. probs missing one or two brands, but don't get OCZ whatever you do. Maybe a bigger HDD aswell if you feel you're out of space. ^-^ Besides that seeing as you don't game there's nothing else to really upgrade.
Just upgrade your HDD and get a SSD. Everything else is fine, forking out cash for a new cpu/ram/mobo, isn't worth it because you probably won't be able to see a difference.
Thanks for the suggestions guys a ssd will be the next thing I get. I'm also curious about monitors. Since I don't game will a high end monitor really make a difference? Thanks again.
i5 3570k will be more than enough for your needs and u don need to buy a cooler for it cause it comes with a good one. You'll save 80 bucks that can go towards 8gb of ddr3 ram. You dont need 16. Also, if i were you i would leave this mobo cause no need to replace it. Spend that money instead on SSD. 120gb minimum. I have 120 and tbh it barely have any space left but i have some heavy games installed on it that take up alot of space.
SSD is going to be the most drastic improvement you can ever make to any computer. It's an instantly noticeable difference. You'll never go back though, so be warned.
Definitely an SSD if you just want to speed up the general responsiveness of your PC. Just make sure you only use the SSD as a boot/storage drive. If you start putting applications on it that will be writing constantly, you will kill it over fairly quickly. If you really want to go crazy, install a ram disk application and dedicate about 10GB to it. Then throw whatever you're currently using on it (photoshop, browser, ect). Also, don't forget to defragment/windows update/ect! So many people forget that defragging is a thing.
