I want to learn...

I wish to learn a new programming language. I want to learn something like C# or C++ or something. What do you recommend? Please post links to some good tutorials and whatnot.

 

I recommend C or C++. Both are very similar and if you learn one, you can learn the other in less than a week. C# is somewhat similar to Java. If you want to learn I suggest you find a project that you can work on where you can apply your programming skills.

Don't write programs that do random things like calculating all prime numbers between 1-1000 and printing them out in reverse numerical order. Find an Open-Source project and contribute. It can be big or small. If you want, you can try Robotics. I know most programming kits use a language similar to C so if you join a Robotics Team I'm sure you will learn a lot. You could also try supporting your favorite Source Mod or create your own with the Source SDK if you like gaming.

I learned Java by writing RSBot scripts. I admit they weren't the best but I did learn a lot about Java.
