I hate facebook.

A good point, but has been taken into consideration, I would target magazines and weblogs as opposed to facebook advertising, who would review the site. I am also sure lots of news sites would be interested in the web charity side of it, in the same way the ny times covered diaspora because they are different.

I get your standpoint, but its like saying you're going to create a search engine that doesn't have advertisements and thinking it will get big because of that.

Not a lot of people know about facebook privacy issues and out of those that do, majority don't really care. I personally, don't care. Everyone I know, doesn't care.

The only thing that you are going to have going for your site is "better privacy".

If people do join, then will join for a week, then leave and forget about it (exactly what I did with myspace back in the day).

Facebook owns the social networking market, the same way youtube owns the video site market, the same way google owns the search engine market.

They're not taking advantage of anyone. They're using the information you happily provided to monetise their free service.

 

Again, I will say what I said about facebook. If you want your wireless information to be secure, secure it. Anyone can do what google did on an individual level, and actually do some harm with it. Maybe this is a warning for the idiots that still have unprotected public networks.

 

bro i think your getting kind of out of hand here. facebook doesnt hurt anyone. millions of people use facebook to talk to their friends.
