    Human Genetic Engineering?

So what do you think? I think it is possible. Currently it would have a very high risk if you tried it via virus, but scientists could fix the kinks, though it's basically considered off-limits to experiment on humans which has mostly stopped the research in this interesting area.

Another point, is this a good idea? If we have geniuses, huge strong dudes, really fast people, basically perfect humans than what could happen? You can even change yourself emotionally, of course this is all theoretical since we are just on the tip of the iceberg on this subject. If this could happen would you still call yourself, yourself? Would there be two categories of humans? The ones who can afford to do this and the ones who can't? Who do you think would be seen as inferior?

I haven't mentioned you would have to insert this into the early embryo so you would be changing someone before they were born. Should that be allowed? Should parents have that much power over their children?

Don't flame please, I'm of course not a scientist or anything lol. I just find this very interesting.

    Discuss, ect.

Firstly I believe, but am not sure that there is already an older thread on this topic =). In my opinion it will be perfectly possible to genetically engineer humans but I don't believe it is right based on moral grounds. But alas, humans are immoral creatures and I think that GM'ing humans will be inevitable

Creatin and designing an human is a job that belongs to god, so in my opinion we shouldnt change that, and start designing our own kids.

Wouldnt it be boring if all humans looked the same, thought the same, and was as good as each other?

For once I agree with Krypton6. God is the only One who has the right and power to do that, as humans, it is not our place to play creator.

This could almost be compared to Hitler and his regime. He wanted to create a perfect race, a perfect world, even though he himself wasn't perfect according to his own requirements. So he killed off many people.

It could easily relate, he wanted a perfect race so he killed off anyone imperfect. We are basically doing the same thing, trying to create a perfect race. Just because we aren't killing anyone doesn't make it anymore right. We are trying to take on the role of God if we start genetically engineering our children and the people who are already living, which is wrong, anyway you look at it.

Would you like to walk out the door, and see 20 people, and they all look like you? Perfection is something that is not meant to be, we are perfect in a sense, just not a worldly one.

What happens when everyone is perfect, and there are only a few who are not? They would be discriminated against, maybe even killed just like the Nazis did to the Jews.

You may think my idea is far off, but looking how our society is going today, it wouldn't take much for that to just as well come true.

I actually completely agree with you with the exception of I think there would be more than a few who weren't genetically modified and I agree with the killings. I'm actually against this, but as extreme said I think it's inevitable since humans are so curious and sometimes immoral. Not everyone is this way, but most people are.
