I was playing the beta version the other day and the graphics are amazing! Really laggy and slow and hopefully they'll sort that out, but I'm superrrr excited.

Yay, lets charge more money for a graphics rework. I'd be more excited If they hadn't already killed the game with EoC. but thanks for the video Chloe, kinda sums it up nicely

I just read its an update, so I guess they're not charging more money.

Regardless, they're spending too much money and effort to remake Runescape and change it. Jagex needs a new project already, Runescape was good for awhile... but people are bound to see that Jagex is turning RS into another pay to win game. If I wanted to do that I'd just play a facebook game.

 

If they made a new game, they'd probably introduce micro-payments into it as well. Despite some people hating it, it works to generate income. So why fix what, to them, isn't broken?

 

I wonder how much 51% ownership in Jagex is currently worth, and if any Sythe users could afford it.

 

It's a multi-million dollar private company, so I doubt it.

 

Some Sythe members are worth quite a bit, you'd be surprised. Although probably not that much.

 

That's just the thing. Every other project Jagex has started failed. Funorb stopped developing, Mechscape was scapped, rebirthed as Stellar Dawn, then the project was 'put on hold'.

The thing is, Runescape is the product of the Gower brothers. The dumbfucks who run Jagex now don't understand the game at all, they are only focused on what they think will make the most revenue, not the long term health of the game.

 

I disagree. The purpose of any business is to turn a profit. After they banned a lot of the gold farming bots, they lost a good chunk of income from their memberships. They had quite a lot of development ambitions for RS and their other projects, but had no way to supplement the income they lost, plus generate more, to fund them. Micro-Transactions were quick and very effective way to do that. While I think some of the items on the SOF could be a little more benign then they have been, it really hasn't changed the game too much. As for the long term health of the game, the player count has remained steady if you don't take the bots into account. I think it'll be fine.

 

To be honest it seems promising and will give a whole new look to the game according to what the mod behind it. I might even consider playing the eoc because of the graphics and to do some PvM but other than that I'm afraid I will not play it if 07 stays around.
