How do you Study?

Just wondering how some of you people study. I'm going through my GCSE's atm, I just do past papers and read through my revision guides.

 

Is this because you want to learn some good study habbits or you want to just hear what other people have to say?

Best way is probably looking at past papers or online studying, don't know.

How can you not know how many GCSE's you got. Also how old are you.

 

Set yourself up in a quiet place where you cannot be distracted. The library is a great place.

Set goals for yourself. Say I am going to get x ammount of problems done by this ammount of time. If you do get it done by your time limit, reward yourself with a piece of candy or something. If you dont get it done by that time then you should try again with your next set of problems.

 

I wait till the night before the test, then I stay up till like 2am and study (reading text books, past assignments, etc). Finally I get tired and say "Fuck it".

The next morning when I take my test, I remember everyone in my school is intellectually handicapped, including my teachers, and don't know how to give us a hard test for shit.

If your in Year 11 now you can't know what GCSEs you got yet, unless you did 8 of them early, which I highly, highly doubt.

wth lol, lot of people know how many GCSE's (A-C) they got so far.
Like I have 4 from ICT, 1 from science, 1 from maths, 1 from english.
I don't know my current grade for humanities, p.e. and 1 unit of ict tho so ye i got no less than 7 GCSE's so far.. SO FAR.
Who knows, maybe an alien spaceship will fall onto my head before the REAL GCSE exam and I will get D's isntead of A's and B's that I currently have and had lol, which I highly, highly doubt.

Teachers told us how many gcse we got atm and how many we're aiming for based on the all exams we did.

P.S. have a guess what school I go to. *Clue* 1 of the 3 best schools in London (lol if we go to same one >.>)

 

For tests, I'll go over whatever notes I can find, use some sheets/handouts, use the textbook, and even redo all of the homeworks.

For finals, we have some of the previous finals uploaded on the school's site, so I use those, my notes, textbook, etc.

 

HA thats so great, i do almost the exact same thing. 2am im just about, i dont care anymore, but hey it works!

 

I do not study at all. If anything, I skim through the reading that we were assigned the night before... Or I read everything we were assigned the night before the test (Since I rarely read anything for school). I get mostly A's and a few B's. I do not try at all at school, and I think that it is a big joke. I also think that the way I am being taught is retarded and that the people that I go to school with are all not smart enough to be taught differently and I really hate them all. They might get better grades than me but they actually care and try very hard which I think is just plain dumb.

An example of an idiot who got better grades than me. Last year this guy would make note cards the night before a test, and copy things from the book onto them. Sometimes he would have 2 or 3 note cards on one small topic. Then he would memorize everything on the back like he was in a play... This got him better grades than me, but he did not understand what he was being taught, he simply knew what he was being taught. He could not explain things really at all, but he could spit back what the teacher or the book had told him. This type of schooling does not help you at all but it seems that many people that study think that that is the correct way to study and it annoying me a lot. If they simply were able to understand what they were reading and be able to explain and apply it, they would be able to remember most facts about it except for stupid things such as specific dates and such which really do not have much importance.

My other though is that if you do not learn it the first time in class or while you are reading, then how are you going to learn it on your own at home studying for a test? Well, your not going to learn it. You are going to memorize it or remember bits and pieces of it and not understand it. If you were asked to think about what you were taught and then apply it or write an opinionated essay about it on the test, you would be royally fucked.

 

If you had made this multiple choice that would have been better.

Personally, I study in any way possible. The internet is a fine resource, but I may sometimes go to the library, or read and reread articles from my textbooks, then study the main points on the internet.

 

Look over notes most of the time.

 

I haven't studied since 6th grade. I just pay attention in class and learn what I need there.

 

I'm not into the whole "study" craze.

 

For me i find like a quiet place away from people best because otherwise i just keep talking to people or find some way to distract myself, the library is an excellent quiet and nice place to study with LOTS of resources available, or you could simply use your computer at home.

 

and sorry for the double post but, most of the time flash cards are VERY effective idk because its more of a hands on activity and if your looking into a tutor try to find one that doesn't bore you but teaches you as you go so you don't get to much fun and not enough learning.

 

I never study. I just pay attention in class, and grasp the simple concepts, and just learn there.
