Host Files (mac)

Rsbot and rsbuddy have been up to some bullshit modifying host files which effectively don't allow you to visit sites.

Im just wondering if mac's are effected by this?

Rsbots.net does not load for me anymore and i was hacked today for 500m (idk if related or not)

Can someone tell me where to find "host files" on a mac if i want to check?

 

Mac doesn't even have a Windows Folder, don't worry. It doesn't even infect anything anyways.

 

ok, any idea why i might not be able to load rsbots.net? - i haven't been able to for ~2 days now.

 

It's working for me ... if it still desn't work for you and you need the client use oembots.com or autofighter.org ... it is the same client download.

 

i don't need the client i already have it thank you though. more just curious about why i can't access the site. Also, found 2 virus's on my mac, dunno what type yet but i imagine that was the reason for the hack.

If anyone has anymore info on why i wouldn't be able to get to rsbots.net please help <3

I am also a mac user and botter.

I highly doubt if someone was smart enough to make a virus for a mac that they would use it to steal someones rsgp.

 

Idk Reeser, mcafee said there were 2 viruses found on my mac. I know they could probably access more info than my rs bank with it though.. kinda concerned

 

RSBuddy didn't infect your computer. The developers of Powerbot included code in their client that when you run it, it will edit your hosts files so you cannot run or view online many of the other botting sites; e.g. RSBuddy, RSbots.net, etc

I have spoken to people who have reverse engineered the powerbot client and have found the code that does this. Do a system restore to the point before you had all of the errors and then delete powerbot from your computer. If you are running Mac OS X or a Linux distro then you don't need to worry about the hosts files as the code in the powerbot client is only designed to infect Windows OS's

 

if you're on Mac don't worry, you're not affected.
