    Help!

    Hi,

Someone I know is planning on going out for an oceanic trip for the next few months.

His father died of breast cancer recently and is trying to get his mind off things.

I knew that his father was one of the biggest drug dealers back in his day, and served time for it. His son never knew, it was covered up and I'm not sure what to say.

Should I tell him, or what? I'm really confused at this point in my life.

    Jakkie.

His father is now in a better place. There's no point in telling him. His father is not going to come back, so let him live with whatever few good memories he had.

Don't tell him. Your friend would feel A LOT shittier knowing that his father was scum. If he's already down, why make him more depressed?

I wouldn't tell your friend. It already feels crappy that your father just died. Then add in the fact that he was a drug dealer? Man that would just suck. Also he might get worried that his father had some fights with people that want to get him back.

I would think it would be unfair not telling him something about his father even though it might start conflict.

Don't tell him, it is not your place to tell him something like this. If he has other family alive (such as mother, grandmother, grandfather) it is at the discretion of his family to tell him if they feel it is necessary. Although you may be compelled to tell him, you really have no reason to tell him.

He deserves to know, but its not your place to tell him. Let his mother, or some other relative tell him when they feel its the right time. You telling him might create some sort of conflict.
