Help with IRC?

Hey guys, was trying to get into the IRC so I could talk, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how the damn thing works. If anyone could tell me a good program to use, and how it works, thanks.

Think I already have you added But I had it downloaded, couldent figure it out, and un-installed lol.

First, Download mIRC from www.download.com
Then, Install it, choose your preferences..
Next, Run it, ignore the registering thing.. type in some information in the box that appears, click "okay"
Type in the new box that appears "//server irc.sythe.org"
then it'll connect, it'll display whos online.
Then come to sythe.org, and click "IRC_Token", copy the whole token then go back to the IRC. and type in "/login" then after it paste the token, press enter.
it should say successfully logged in as ___, then do "/join #IRCSythe"

I can follow that all the way until I type "/login" and my IRC token...which it then tells me it is an unknown command.

I would rather use a seperate program than an in-browser thing :s

 

You're not connected to the Sythe IRC server if the /login command doesn't work.

 

Gah, I followed what Karl said, and even watched the youtube video in his thread, and I still cannot get it to work >.> anyone willing to give me a personal walk-through ?
