I'd also recommend that you check out the Sythe.Org Official Rules, this'll help you make sure you don't get any infractions or anything.

Welcome to sythe! When trading you should use a middleman because people tend to try to scam newcomers. Also watch out for imposters, request a pm confirming its them when your trading with someone over msn and skype. Imposters tend to go after newcomers.

You can almost always tell when they join Sythe with a Sythe MSN and Skype all ready, but you can't find anything
