Hearthstone - Programming discussion

I'm most proficient with Java so personally I see Hearthstone as a collection of if statements haha. But the pros and cons of all the languages available to us in 2014 usually lead to Java not being used as often as you might think. Most really well-coded software use a combination of languages.

Sorry that was actually a huge tangent, basically, what language(s) is hearthstone written in? I tried to google it but couldn't find anything (i didn't try THAT hard so I do apologize if the answer to this is common knowledge)

and secondly, for the sake of discussion, in your opinion do you think the game should have use a different language for a different portion of the game (and why) or did Blizzard design this game well?

 

game works as intended, so i don't see why it should be in a different language. i mean if it aint broke don't fix it. it has a few graphical bugs here and there, but what game doesnt? after its just a card game it doesn't really need some superb coding.

 

which language is it written in?

 

dunno, never looked into it. i would assume something the team was familiar with. if nothing can be found look into past games that team as worked on before.

c++ seems to be the most popular choice nowadays. I think it's a really well written game. Fixing the purple box graphic error shouldn't be too difficult. Can't wait for it to move out of open beta.

 

just reload the game, fixes it for me.
