    Guide to using mIRC

Meant to post this in Software Specific. If a mod could please move it there I'd appreciate it.

You can download mIRC by clicking here.

Once you install mIRC and open it up you should see this box, Click continue and mIRC should open, don't worry about it saying it's a trial because you can use it forever.

Click file, and then click "select server".

Now to add the server and your options add your name and email firstly and your nickname you want to use when on the channel. For your nickname put your name and for the email just put random shit. Click ok once you're finished this.

Now in the category list click 'Servers' then either look for 'SwiftIRC'. Click select. It will bring you to the page where it shows your email and shit, just click ok.

Then go to options on the category list and make sure 'connect on start-up' is checked

Now every time you open mIRC up it should connect to the SwiftIRC
    l
Click "favourites" at the top and click "add to favourites". For the channel put "#yourchannel" and click "join on connect".

Once you've done that, click the connect button (the lightning symbol at the top-left). Once you're connected and you're in #yourchannel, register your nickname if you already havn't.

Type this in IRC "REGISTER password password email email"

Password = the password you want for your nick
email = your email (has to be your real email)

Once you've done that, check your email and it gives you a code, just copy and paste it into IRC and you should be registered.

Now click "file" at the top, click on "select server". Look at the left and click "options". Now click "perform". A little screen will pop up, at the top click "enable perform on connect". Go down a bit and there's an empty box. Type "/ns id yourIRCpassword". This will identify you when you connect.

Now click "Tools" at the top and click on "address book". Go over to the far right and you will see "highlight", click on that. Check the box that says "enable highlight". Now add the names you use on IRC.

Now click on your name(s) you put, and click "edit". Click on "no sound" and it should now say "beep". This will make it so whenever someone says your name it'll make a beep sound (so you know someone is talking to you).

Now click "view". Click these options in order.

    1)Treebar
    2)Toolbar
    3)Menubar

KEEP SWITCHBAR! Now you will have no options at the top. Just click the mIRC symbol at the top-left, it will have all your options there.

Now fool around with it and re-size it if you'd like (just click the corners and go in)

    Guide to using mIRC

Pretty decent guide to IRCing. When I first clicked on it, I'll admit I thought this was going to be a guide to connecting to server on MIRC. I like it, pretty much sums up the basics of using MirC.

One thing I didn't like was the layout. You could've done it better. I also see you've adopted my guide style of posting picture and writing based on these pictures.

One thing, wrong section. :p Try Software Specific next time.
