good book??

I recently had back surgery and don't have WiFi atm so no rsps I don't go to school. So I have a lot of spare time.I'm gonna be bedridden. I enjoy reading and haven't read a good book in awhile so I'd just like to see some suggestions. I like the kind of mystery thriller genre. Steven king is among my favorites but I've read most of those already. I want something that will actually grab my attention. I will read reviews to any suggestions you guys have. Thanks!

 

This is not SFA material, but I'd say Holes is a good book.

I'm currently reading the 'Song of Fire and Ice' series i.e. Game of Thrones. 7 books written so far. Would recommend. Other than that I've only really been into reading (auto)biographies of old east-end gangsters like Roy Shaw, Lenny McLean, The Richardson brothers etc.

Read anything by Thomas Ligotti, read the Laundry File series by Charles Stross (great books, theres 4 books and 2 novellas), anything by Hunter S. Thompson, anything by H.P. Lovecraft. Lovecraft is one of King's biggest influences. The Mist, Crouch's End, and the entire history of Salem's Lot (the town) is based on his work.

try 1984 by George Orwell

 

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is among my favourite books of all-time. Its sister-books are 1984 by George Orwell (the book Sepia suggested) and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. They're interesting reads to say the least. I recently ordered the Game of Thrones series online which I'm excited to read. I also recommend The Shakespeare Stealer by Gary Blackwood, The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway (honestly, any work by Hemingway), The Boy Who Dared by Susan Campbell Bartoletti (it may be a lower-level read, but from what I can remember, I really enjoyed it), and The Life of Pi by Yann Martel.
