this makes very litle sense to me

we had to calculate the maximum height of our kite, but it says you need an understanding of pythagores theory, yet you only know one side of the triangle

It's all in that right angle. If you could tell me the length of the string, it would be a lot easier to figure out. You can still figure that out with the pythagorean theorem. I'll do it if you can tell me that length.

If you know the angle, use triganomatory or whatever its called.

the string can be what ever you like but 25 meters is about fine

You can still solve it the same way. Just work backwards.

It looks like a 30 60 90 triangle. I don't remember the formula for it though and I left my book in my first block class. If you haven't figured it out by the time I get home, I'll help you then.

    This is very easy!
Just use Sin Cosine or Tangens

Just remember: one corner is 90 degrees

This is impossible if there isnt an angle measure.

If there us just use trigonometry to solve and find the side.

For the 30, 60, 90 right triangle it is the hypotenus = 2x and the shorher leg is x and the other lef is x rt 3.

I believe you use Sin and Cos for this. Or the pythagorean theorem...I forgot

Well you have to know atleast 1 other angle besides the 90 degree one, so I'm going to assume that this is a 30 60 90 trangle.

    sin angle = opposite/hypotnuse

    or in your case

    sin 30 = x/the hypotnuse length

If you still dont get it, let me know what the hypotnuse is equal too.

To use pythagores or to use it correctly you need to know at least to sides.

    I think?

I think if you used my penis it should give the right answer to the exact decimal place. Give it a spin.

you must work around the 90 degree angle
    use formulas for 45 45 90 triangles

use trigonometry you need to use the sine law:

    here it is:

sin(your angle) = opposite side of angle / hypotenuse
