Goldfarming help.

Hey guys, so back in 2010 I farmed gold (a lot for that matter) and I have been looking to get back into the swing of things. But being so busy now with trading on sythe in my gold shop and working from home (I'm a programmer and my company lets me work here.) I can almost never use my computer to massively bot anymore.

I was looking into buying a vps and was wondering how many bots I could technically run off of this setup:

3ghz processor
3gb RAM
500GB bandwidth (should suffice correct?)
40GB SSD Storage

Storage shouldn't matter as I will just install SIMBA and run from there, but how many bots do you suppose that could run?

 

1-2, depends on script.

 

Other botting sites have this same build saying 3-5+

 

Bot uses around 2ghz, and ram could run 4-5 but CPU wont handle, unless your ok with ~5fps

 

safemode right now on my 3.8ghz can run 3+ at a time. Depending on my internet connection.

 

People buy servers with less than this and are claiming to be running 10 or so on it...

 

you need wayy more ram to do this sufficiently otherwise your bot will be slow as hell.

Also simba this isni't rsbuddy or rsbots.net where they are coded injava and the bot is semi part of the client.

So you really need either atleast 4 gb or ram or run an optimised script.

 

Ram is about how many you will be able to run, but CPU will stand as lagproof, i mean with really minor lagg that server would run 2. But if you put any more fps could be around ~10, its alright for scripts like fleching, herb those kind of skills.
People may claim that it runs so much, but at what cost - super lag.

 

What would be a good vps site then because for 2 bots that is not a price I want.....?

 

Havnt found one good so yet, but there are so many pros by having more VPS, rather then one powerful. Also depends on how many bots you want to run, since maybe you should think about dedicated server.
Saw someone on powerbot to have 8core 8gb ram VPS for 34$, but no idea where he got it.

 

Yea that is what I saw too. I don't want to start off by spending more than like $40/month but I also don't want to only run a few bots and BARELY make back the money I payed for sever.

 

I agree, it sucks how shitty profit is from bots, I calculated out that with 5 bots running sorc garden, after expenses (VPS/membership) you're only making a little over $100 profit a month, which really isn't anything compared to what it used to be.

I'm running a PhotonVPS Windows Zap 3 and am managing 2-3 bots running smoothly with about 80-90% success on Home's sorc garden simba script.

 

2 MAX - what are the processor specs?

 

So if they're saying 3-5, why would you even create this thread?

 

Because I am seeing 3-5 then I'm seeing 2, then I'm seeing MAYBE 1... I need a clear answer.

 

You need to bare in mind that you can't simply just post up specs of a computer build/vps and ask 'how many bots can this run?'.

It doesn't work that way, these threads are popping up more and more regularly now like they used to before the bot nuke. You need to take everything into account with all the different variables, for example what client are you using some clients use up more RAM/processing power than others. What script will you be running? Certain scripts can be more complex and therefore will use more resources than other scripts even on the same client. You either need to be more specific about what you are planning on running or just test it out for yourself, what I did when I gold farmed before the nuke was to buy a vps from the supplier I intended to but get a smaller plan, and run the script and monitor how much resources it used and subsequently could multiply that by how many bots I wanted to run which would give me a clear indication of what plan I needed.
