Ok so basically, I have now started my GSCEs. I did my first one (out of 12) for science in June. Got my results today, and I got a U. I did 5 mocks (past papers) to help prepare, and got 2 A*s 2 As and a D (I got bored with the mocks so just guessed them all and still managed to get a D :)) I'm not the biggest fan of revising, in fact I despise it and have never done ANY in my life. And the one time I do revise (lots) I get a shit grade. The exam was out of 50, and I got 19. Which as far as I know, was the lowest in my year.

It might have just been my teacher, he had a huge stutter and a really quiet voice. But I'm not sure, the school think I need to be doing foundation science (for thick people where the highest grade you can get is a C). I'm going to wait for a few more people in my old science class to see if their results were terrible too so I know it was the teacher, not just me.

But until then, does anyone have any ideas how I can stop this happening in the future? I have 5 more science exams this year, 2 maths ones, 2 french ones (fml) and a few english. Then loads more next year.

If I get good results in the other 5 exams, then I will be able to re-sit the exam I just took and hopefully get another grade.

Btw, I am a fairly smart kid, and was expecting atleast a B, so don't say shit like, "Maybe your just retarded" or something along those lines.

I have the same problem as you, I do fine on mocks and when I do actual exams I really don't do well. All I can suggest is do lots of revision, and stay calm. Think every answer through twice, make sure that you have answered to the best of your ability. Have you got any specific idea what went wrong in this exam?

I did a lot of revision and stayed calm, since i did very well in my mocks i thought the actual exam would be fairly easy. I dont have a clue what went wrong, I honestly thought I did quite well. but 19/50? thats around 30%... The exam was on evolution which over the past 12 weeks of studying it learnt nothing due to an extremely poor teacher. My next exam is in just over 2 months and that is 2 different exams. Depends if I do well in these I spose...

    Thanks for thr feedback :)

I guess all you can do is revise, and complain if your teacher is crap. If your not learning anything because your teacher is rubbish, to the extent that your chances of passing an important exam are being jeopardized, you should say something to a person of authority (Headteacher usually). All the best in the next two exams though :)

I have recently had some exams that count towards my overall science GCSE grade (30% or something) and i got an A*, B, A without revising. Just be calm and its easy. Most people panic which leads to them misreading the question etc.

I was calm. Since I got the a's and a*'s in my mocks, I thought I would fly through the actual thing easily. Im a cocky shit

    "RossDugan is a fucking faggot"

    Hmm :/

I see in your posts that you thought you would do well on them but didn't. So when you were doing the actual test did you find it easy and expect a high mark. Or did you find them hard?

Haha, i see it was xs. He was mad because he posted a thread showing all the money he scammed on sythe and i reported it.

If you would take it out that would be great thanks :)

Ontopic: To me it seems as though you are not spending enough time answering questions.

So you may have understood what the question is asking and have answered it correctly. Although may not have gone in enough depth and explained the answer you have put. Which could gain you a few marks depending on the question.

Also if you have time left, do you check through the paper and redo each question (in your head) to make sure you have written the correct answer or do you sit with the booklet closed?

I have a bad habbit of not checking.

EDIT. Just noticed you said about checking above.
