Am I the only one that things funerals are just creepy and weird? It has been a tradition for so long that I believe people don't really think about it. Its "to pay your respects" or "say goodbye," but im sorry, going and looking at their body is not paying your damn respect and you saying goodbye to a dead body is no different then you saying goodbye to them anywear else IMO. Funerals would be more suitable in my eyes if they took place at wear they were being buried and you don't see their body. I am sorry if I offend anyone or anything but I believe you should remember someone who passed away for the times you spent with them, and not for the time you saw them deceased. I personaly would not go to a single funeral if I didn't have to. But if you don't, people think you are rude and don't care. I could recover easier if I didn't have the mental picture of seeing them dead at a funeral whenever I think about them.... Then again this is only my opinion. Please post yours!
I've got a simple question for you. Have you ever been to a funeral where the person was someone of immediate family? You don't go to a funeral for your own condolences, you go for the condolences of the immediate family, and loved ones.
I agree with Shawn. If you haven't experienced death in your family, then I wouldn't judge a way a funeral runs. ~ Ibrahim Al
Well, aren't the funerals at the burial grounds? Also, I find it somewhat stupid when the people who sell coffins charge really high prices and say shit like "do you want your loved ones to be comfortable..." they are dead... Also with creamation, the cardboard box is a minimum for $50, $100 for blue...
I agree zypur coffins are just pricy for what there use is. People think your cheap and don't care about them if you purchase a cheap one. I believe cremation is the way to go. I also understand that Shawn, its a time to comfort the family members of the person who died.. so I guess I am more complaining at the fact of viewing the body, which I know you don't HAVE to go look but I am just wondering if anyone else thinks thats weird..
I'm pretty sure typically there is a before funeral at a church or wherever, and then there is another ceremony (shorter i believe) at the site when the person is being buried. But no, i don't think it's weird.
Hmm guess its just me. I honestly don't feel closure by seeing their body because its not them only their body and a lot of times it doesn't even look like them. Then when I think back to remember them I remember seeing them dead...anyway we all have our own feelings about this stuff, guess mines just different.
