My computer's screen keeps flickering it's light. As in, it's getting darker, then lighter. Darker, then lighter. And the very bottom-left part of my screen is starting to turn pink and consume my screen. I have a feeling that my computer is dying on me. I need a PC Doctor!! *EDIT* I unplugged my Power Cord and then my computer screen was perfectly fine. :3
It's a PC technician. Of coarse if you unplug the power the screen isn't going to show anything. Try the monitor on a different computer if it still doesn't work than its the monitor -- get a new one.
Your cord that plugs into your tower and monitor may just be getting old, the EXACT same thing happened to mine, except it changed all different color's, I bought a new cord and it was all good.
Thats a pretty old laptop, the Egyptian Pharaohs probably had it in their palace. TBH, It happens to almost every computer, and is usually causes by leaving the monitor on a alot. However, if you have the guts, you could check inside the laptop and remove the ancient dust and perhaps find a faulty connection of some sort! Sad though, IBM computers are the most reliable and never crash...
The mind of a great ancient told me this. Actually, that's what I was thinking was the problem, as I had not turned off my computer in over 3 Weeks or so. I've turned it off overnight now, and I'm hoping that the problem may go away.
yea you could clean your computer, but be careful if do choose to open it up you dont void any warranty. Check your warranty information first. I myself think you might have a video driver problem. Perhaps find the video drivers and reinstall them or check your drivers for updates. You can do this by clicking computer-system properties-device manager-then find the video driver and right click and choose update (this for vista but xp is similar)
I wouldn't recommend opening the machine though, leave the computer off for 24 hours or so, have a manual for teh laptop or something from the internet if you do plan on opening it up.
Too late. About 45 minutes ago my screen caved in and turned back around the edges into the center. It made a hissing sound while doing so. My best guess is that the screen has been 'fried', or has burnt up, seeing as I kept my computer on too long without using any Power Saving Options. The only thing I can do now I suppose is buy a new monitor for my laptop, or buy an external monitor for a regular computer and just hook it up to my laptop. Isn't it possible to use your TV Screen for your computer's display? Agh. *I'm on my brothers' laptop right now, by the way.
R.I.P IBM ThinkPad. If it was sizzling then something burned up in the circuit board usually rendering the computer useless. And yes, you can use your television as a computer screen. You just need to buy a special cord. I'm sure the people at the local best buy or wherever you go can educate you on that as I'm not really an AV person. My friend actually uses his TV as a computer monitor, so I am totally sure it's possible to do so. (His TV is one of the newer flat screens)
Maybe the screen burnt out? Like a plasma screen TV, the lights occasionally burn out, and have to be repaired. Maybe you can hook your laptop up to a TV/new monitor with HDMI cables? Thats what I do when I am bored/playing runescape in HD lol.
I have my computer hooked up to an external monitor now. It's the only way I can use the computer anymore. As for the circuit board being burnt, I'm certain it hasn't been. I believe it was the LCD light or something. I can still vaguely see the screen in light, but just barely. This makes me come to the belief that it is the light.
The problem you had was with the inverter, which is basically the light in your screen. You could always buy a new inverter, or just a new screen. The way you have it now works as well.
