    Fish tank problems

Yesterday I went to walmart and bought a new spongebob fish tank, it came with stickers and toys for the inside which I thought was really cute. Anyways the fliter that it came with is really powerful and the little fish is like getting thrown around inside the tank.

Should I turn off the fliter?

Or get a weaker filter? Guessing that is like a 3 gallon tank, you probably don't even need a filter.

If its a goldfish tank. Yes.

They do not need a filter, although the tank must be cleaned every few weeks/month.

If you have a heated tropical fishtank NO. The filter is needed.

The fliter makes a pretty noise so I might leave it be. If the fish dies I'll go buy a new one, they cost only like 5.99. Buying a whole new filter sounds expensive.

Im pretty sure thats a tropical fish?

If it is, get a heater. You need one for tropical species.

The filter is needed. Although if it does give the fish problems. You really should buy a slower/worse one so that it doesn't kill it.

If you really want to spend lots, an external filter can be used on larger tanks and it will stop the constant jet flow into the water.

Also keep the jet stream under the water surface.

Do you know how many gallons it is? I can only assume its less then 5 gallons, If not you'r going to need a lot of things, take it serious cause there a lot more work then people think. I have a 80 gallon saltwater tank, its not an easy job to take care of fish. I have well over $1800 invested in my tank.
