First Earthquake

Well today I have now experience my first earthquake. Was pretty interesting and wouldn't have been bad if at first it didn't feel like somebody running in my house xD

 

same here, i was really close to the center too haha

I'm from Ohio, we got some aftershocks.

 

I live right in Pittsburgh, it wasn't that bad lol.

Yeah it was a 5.8 from Virginia to NY Scary stuff haha

 

I felt it; although not too much; just a little shock waves.

 

I was in DC on a construction site, yeah, we got the hell outta' there.

Made it back to Baltimore in record time.

Scared the shit out of me. I was on the second floor of my school and the desks and pcs were going fucking crazy. Felt like the floor was gonna collapse. Scary shit, glad nothing serious happened (at least where I live).

VA here, btw.

 

I honestly think that this 2012 thing is all hyped up. That's just me though.

 

...It was a fucking earthquake. Stop talking 2012, there are many per year ^_^.

I have a feeling its a sign of 2012 doomsday being near o_o..

I was sitting in my boyfriends bed.. well laying... and I felt the bed shake and I got up reallyquick, it stopped, and then started up even stronger.. It was definitely weird. Nothing fell but.. Very amazing experience. :laugh:

A 5.8 magnitude earthquake centered northwest of Richmond, Va., shook much of Washington, D.C., and was felt as far north as Canada. That wide range included many parts of the Mohawk Valley. The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake was 3.7 miles deep.

Shaking was felt at the White House and all over the East Coast, as far south as Chapel Hill, N.C. Parts of the Pentagon, White House and Capitol were evacuated. The quake was in Mineral, Va., in Louisa County.

US weather service says no tsunami expected after East Coast quake centered in Va. AMTRAK has stopped their trains in order to inspect rails and other infrastructure.

Buildings in New York City shook briefly Tuesday afternoon as an earthquake originating in Virginia rattled the ground.

Government buildings in the city, including City Hall, were evacuated. The 26-story federal courthouse in lower Manhattan began swaying and hundreds of people were seen leaving the building. Court officers weren't letting people back in.

In the Mohawk Valley, residents from Oneida, Herkimer, Madison, and Chenango Counties all reported feeling the ground shaking under their feet, and items on walls and bookshelves falling off in their homes.

 

I'm in Virginia, I felt it as well. It was my first earthquake experience, I thought it was pretty cool. But, I hope no life's were lost.

 

i live in MD, about 45 mins-1.5 hr mins from Richmond ran outside,lmao tought i was going to die.

 

I felt the house shaking, wasn't sure to what it was at first. As I was pking I quickly tele'd and started calling my dad to see if he was doing anything at the same time causing the house to shake. He later came out 5 minutes later, after the earthquake stopped and asked if he felt anything shaking and I said yeah. Then he knew it was an earthquake. It was my first as well
