Well lately there have been a lot of dispute from people that say they have never ban evaded. Are these people actually telling the truth by having the same ip as someone else? Its very easy to match up and ip with someone else. Back when I lived in Indiana I was banned on 4 chan because my ip changed to something someone had before me. Are these bans for ban evading backed up by more proof than ip matches?
If you're referring to any of my bans, I don't find accounts by IP searches. If anything, I use IP's to confirm what I already know through other means - hence why I generally don't care when people say, "omg, this iz my 1st acc!!!shift!one!" Most of the time, it's a blatant lie. They're either hoping to get unbanned on a lucky chance, or they're just curious as to which account they were caught on, and how they were found. I rarely see a second dispute once I give them the name.
I get your point, but still. In that case, screen shots should not be counted as proof in scam reports since they can easily be faked. Know what I mean? Most of the people will abuse it. If people want a guarantee this won't happen to them then they should get a static IP. (edit) It would be great if everyone was assigned one IP.
There are only 4,294,967,296 valid IP addresses. Not enough for everyone to get their own. That's why dynamic IP addresses exist.
I've had the same IP address for 5 years. My IP has never changed (other than when I used different computers in my house.)
Some ISPs use static IPs for whatever reason. Yours must be static, but a large amount of ISPs assign dynamic IPs.
Last I checked, there are not 4 billion internet users. Static is usually only assigned upon request or if your speed is high enough to host a server. This is required if you want to have a server, since the IP must be the same at all times. If you buy it with a contract you get a free domain usually From what I know, I think you're able to create a static mask for your dynamic IP, or use programs that automatically adjust your domain with your dynamic IP. (Such as no-ip.org) If everyone had a static IP, then there would be no ban evaders unless they connected from another network/computer or changed ISPs (If their IP is banned that is) I have no proposal or else I would post it in the Suggestions section. Sadly there is no other proof.
Yes, it is a static IP. And I have no idea to why my ISP gave me a static IP. It's some local crappy ISP, so they probably don't even know the difference.
Well thats pretty dumb how they ban u on 4 different chars cause just cause you had ip changed different times doesnt mean they ban u
If you make more than one account when you have other accounts that are banned it;s called ban evading and it's against the rules.
Most of them (I think) Are telling the truth, a month or so back, I got banned for ban envading, even though I've never got banned before. :S
If I wanted to propose something I would post it in the Feedback forum for it to be ignored, but there's nothing else that is solid evidence. PG2 was banned because people (including me) claimed his picture was photo shopped but it turned out it wasn't. Now what if he didn't know how to dispute it? An innocent person would be banned because a bunch of idiots accused him.
