    Facebook?

I didn't see anything about Facebook in the DNS list, so I decided to suggest this myself.

All I am saying is that on facebook, people stand out more. It's easy to judge, overlook, or ignore someone over something as small as how many times they have posted on here. Imagine how many people you would be friends with on here if you actually took the time to get to know them, or just read a small paragraph about them?

Seeing as how a majority of us are on Facebook, I don't see why we don't have a small sub-section or even a sticky that allows us to share Facebook links with eachother. I feel this would greatly improve our community, with us being able to communicate with other Sythe users through our legitimate Facebooks, thus getting to know the people behind Sythe. I think it would be a cool and interesting way for us to get to know eachother.

    I suggest this because..

1: We are not allowed to post links to our Facebooks, as it is an external link and is basically advertising.
2: You could pick and choose who you add, obviously, so if you didn't want people to add you, you shouldn't of posted your Facebook.
3: Great to see the faces behind the users.
4: A majority of people who use Sythe have common interests. If we were to actually talk to eachother as people, and not Sythe users, we could actually form friendships based more around personal discussion.
5: On Sythe, there is plenty of space in the off-topic section for people to get to know eachother and form friendships, I know. But we have rules here. Facebook does not. If we saw what people were actually like, we might be more fond of them, or might be more willing to form friendships/get involved in the community by seeing how other people act in real life, and not when it comes to Runescape/Sythe.

I feel this would be pretty cool to implement. I think it would be cool having Sythe users liking my status's they agree with and checking out what I do on a daily basis. I feel that Sythe isn't broad enough to show who we truely are. I am a fucking video game nerd that blasts deathcore on a daily basis and smokes weed every second of the day, and I tend to post shit alot on Facebook. You wouldn't know that on Sythe, but if you had me added, you would.

I just think this would be an interesting and fun thing to have around, so those of us who wish to get in touch with the community beyond Sythe are able to without breaking rules.

I honestly don't care how this is added. Just one sticky, just one little section of space taken up, I don't care. I just want to be able to communicate with the PEOPLE behind the pictures and words, without going strictly through Sythe. This would also mean that the Sythe community would build and get stronger, as we are communicating not only on Sythe, but also in the time we ARE NOT on Sythe.

Please, think about this. Don't rush to not support it. It isn't the best idea in the world, but I do think it would be pretty awesome to become real life friends with Sythe users, and frankly, on Sythe that is just impossible without seeing their face and knowing their interests and attitudes. Sure, you can learn alot about someone on Sythe, but that takes skimming through every single persons posts to find just one person who you can get along with. I'd rather open a page, see all their interests and who they are right there, and take it from there.

Open to ideas, as well. If this shouldn't be suggested, please add to list and lock. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I understand that MSN, Skype, etc. are tools that you can use. But I check Facebook every day. I leave Facebook on when I leave. That is people's social lifeline. ALL of my friends have Facebook. I know everyone here has Facebook, as well. I don't see anything wrong with adding eachother, and being able to check up on eachothers personal lives.

Edit: This could also help Sythe for the greater good. Sythe admins could use Facebook against scammers, and people who do off-site scamming would be caught easier through Facebook. I see no negative sides to this.

    Facebook?

People generally become friends with each other over MSN, Skype, IRC and such. Then from there they can choose if they'd like another member to add them on Facebook. Posting a link to your Facebook in a open section where anyone could see if (even non-registered users) is pretty stupid if you ask me.

I agree, although I have it set to where nobody can see anything that matters.

But we post our MSN addresses and such. I don't use MSN or Skype, period. I've done one trade over MSN, that's it. I use Facebook like everyone here uses MSN. I think Facebook would be a better choice for communication. Facebook chat logs would be better proof of scamming, as well, and would give ultimate trust if a buyer has your known Facebook and is about to conduct a trade with you. I see problems, but those who are willing to deal with the problems to enjoy the company of a non-animated face should be allowed to.

I should be allowed to post a random rant that makes no sense and have FireZ like it, or post a picture of myself and have Sythe comment on it. If I want to let people in, then let me. Or at least let me post a link to my Facebook in my sig. :/ Obviously I won't add unless I know you, but I'd love to have some of the Sythe community on Facebook to chat with. I'm not always around to check Sythe, but I get automatic updates to my phone through Facebook.

Most people here use MSN and Facebook. MSN to keep in contact with Sythe members and Facebook for real life. Facebook chat logs can be altered easy and if someone scams you over Facebook I can see people revealing their personal information which will not turn out good.

I don't want to SEE. I want to INTERACT. I want to discuss a person's specific style without worrying if it is spam, or just hop on the computer real quick to find that one of my Sythe friends just bought a new car, and shared a picture of it with me. I'm tired of searching through topic after topic after topic, when I could just interact with the person themselves. But for some reason, that isn't allowed on Sythe. It isn't fair.

I don't want to be in a specific forum to talk about a specific thing when I just really want to talk about everything. If they won't let us have a chat system, they won't let us post about our day, and they won't let us share our ideals without making multiple threads, then we should AT LEAST get to trade Facebooks with one another. Not a single person on here knows me. I've tried communicating with alot of people, but nobody wants to be JUST FRIENDS. There's either business to conduct, or that person will ignore you to hell. I want to MAKE FRIENDS HERE. I can't make any friends if this is a business site. I wanna talk about shit with real people, agree with things, and grow to like eachother. You gotta learn specific E-Mails for MSN, or users for Skype. You gotta talk to specific people. When you talk to your friends on Facebook though, everyone sees it, and anyone can pitch in or throw their two cents your way.

Majority of the members aren't as open as you about having their Facebook open to a bunch of randoms from the internet. Like I said, if you make some friends from Sythe, just ask them if they want to add you on Facebook.

Like I edited above, it's too hard making friends here anymore because nobody wants to be social here. Everyone talks to everyone, then posts a new topic and forgets about the other people. I want people to discuss stuff with me, and talk to me. I want new friends. I'm not making a single friend here on Sythe, and I've been around for (join date).

I honestly haven't made a single friend or remember a single person(even admins) in the four years I have been here.

All I am saying is that on facebook, people stand out more. It's easy to judge, overlook, or ignore someone over something as small as how many times they have posted on here. Imagine how many people you would be friends with on here if you actually took the time to get to know them, or just read a small paragraph about them?

I've been on the IRC. It doesn't matter if I say someones name or type in all caps. I'm overlooked. Chat rooms, threads, forums, all the same. Just a bunch of people typing out messages at once. I want to READ ABOUT PEOPLE and SEE WHO THEY TRUELY ARE. I want to discuss beliefs and life. On IRC, nobody stays on the same subject, and you are immediately forgotten about after the next post.

I honestly won't be satisfied unless I get to talk to my fellow Syther's on Facebook. Whether you are open to posting links, or I gotta message you for a link, I'd much rather get to know someone through there than have e-egos overruling people's judgement or having people hate on me when we both have the exact same interests. You would never know unless you talked to one person one-on-one, and you can't just message everyone on Sythe. So Facebook is more or less the best idea.

No support, I post my Facebook all the time on IRC, but I would never actually want that info posted here or anywhere on the site, and I'm sure many other users would agree.

Last I heard you are allowed to post your Facebook on here, even one of the staff has it linked somewhere.

Personally I consider giving someone my Facebook a big jump from MSN, seeing as Facebook is linked to your real life and people you know in real life, I think only have like 4 or 5 people on here who have my Facebook, it's honestly a big jump from MSN in terms of personal information.

I don't see how a section would benefit it, if you want to give your Facebook out to someone, that's your choice.

The factor of personal info plays a huge role in this. I don't really think the majority of Sythe would want all of their personal info open to everyone. Therefore I don't really see that the section you are suggesting would be prosperous.

Is there any reason you feel this needs to become somewhat official? If you want to share your Facebook with your friends, you're free to send a PM to your friends with the link. I'm sure you won't want to post the link publicly, anyone can get to your personal information that way.

I feel there at least needs to be a Sythe Facebook. As I said before, I don't have any friends on here. I don't use MSN. Roughly 30% of Sythe would agree that they are on Facebook much more than any kind of instant messaging service, as Facebook is a social site, AND has an IM serivce provided. I prefer knowing at least interests of people before becoming friends with them, which is why I haven't been interested in communicating or PMing with people I want to be friends with. I have no idea who these people are or how they think, why would I want them to be my friend? Also, why would I want to weed through the 1000 nut job 15 year olds through Sythe just to find one person that's even remotely the same age as me?

Believe me, I think there are ALOT of cool ass people on here that I would love to just randomly message and talk to about life. But that just seems odd, and the other person would more than likely think I was an idiot. People HAVE to know at least the basics of people before becoming their friend. I understand some of you can just spring up conversation out of nowhere and make friends that way, but I, for one, cannot.

I don't like FB integrations into anything; I don't have one even though you assume everyone does, there are many people who do not.

Also, giving away your personal information online isn't a good idea. It's rule 1 of using the Internet but a lot of people ignore that just like using a different password for different websites.

I see no harm in making an official Sythe FB, I guess. If that's what you're suggesting... I'm unsure of what you're suggesting =p.
