Explain to me this...

Why do girls cut themselves? My most recent ex and the one before that both decided to slice thier bodies open during or after i broke up with them? i feel quite guilty because of it. My friends tell me its for attention but im thinking its just me.. what do you think about this?

In fact, I'm starting to cut myself right now as punishment for replying to this damned thread.

My Ex-Gf carved the first letter of my name in her arm 2 weeks after we broke up, I think its both for attention, and to somehow deal with the sorrow or maybe punish herself?

My gf has a cog missing in her head I think, as she plays with boxcutters and cuts the edges of her wrists, threatening to slice them.

I'm pretty sure she wouldn't, but last time she looked like she was going to, had to karate kick the blade outta her hand.

Pretty fucked up.

 

physical pain makes emotional/mental pain feel dull, of course, it does seem that they were just seeking attention, since you seem to have found out about them doing it...

depends with the person tbh, but don't say that everyone that cuts is doing it for attention, because that's just a passing on regurgitated bullshit, some people with major depression/painful memories are really just trying to stop the horrible mental ache

oh, and don't feel guilty, you're not responsible for other people's self esteem, if they honestly weren't seeking attention, they didn't cut because you broke things up, they cut because they need to work out issues with themselves

And I've cut my self before. Just to freak someone out. I was playing with my knife and they were freaking so I freaked them out more and cut my arm... It made me feel nice. Didn't even hurt... But it took so damn long to heal it pissed me off. Lol.

 

Idk, people who end up cutting themselves are stupid. They claim to have "problems" yet generally it turns out to just be normal stuff everybody experiences. Everybody gets dumped, they aren't unique for that. No excuse to cut yourself.

Ya, dont worry about. I am sure in the near future they will look back on it and feel stupid for doing it.

 

Don't be, as others have said they are doing it for attention and to dull the pain (even though it does nothing, it just makes more pain XD). They will get out of it, and this is another reason why I want to move to Norway. I hate girls like that.

 

To feel that they are in control of there own pain.

I'm fairly sure this isn't a girl only symptom. It's just a plea for attention. That's when you make sure to GTFO of there.

Cutting yourself is definitally a cry for attention. But it's also a trend these days, people may even sometimes do it to show off. But the situation you have given an example to is definitally a craving for attention. I think that cutting yourself is just another fad that will go out of style (A stupid fad) eventually.

 

Mostly its cuz they are sick or just want attention and their is a name for that too but i cant think of it now.
