The ENS auction has been ongoing for a short while now with about 34% of the available names being released.

Simply put, ENS (.eth domains) allows for a human readable identity to be established on the Ethereum network with all the perks of being an ether wallet. This will be huge for consumer adoption as it again, peels away the technical barriers preventing mainstream use. This is a key milestone for Ethereum as it now allows enterprises, organizations, etc to establish their "brand" in a very public manner.

 

None of the domains I search for are available for whatever reason just says will be open in 25 days or whatever.

 

It's an ongoing process with names being released as time goes on.

 

So how do I find out which domain names have been released? No matter what I try it is not available at this time.

 

Follow @EnsBot on Twitter for an automatic update on names that are up for auction, winners, etc.

Otherwise you'll just have to manually search on the ens registrar to see if it's available and if not, just mark the date and start up a bid when it arrives.

 

Whoever got the domain weather.eth will probably get a good return on his investment, I have a few domains that I will be scoping, hopefully I will be able to get at least one of them.

 

Seems like a second gold rush. Users deposited more than 1 billion dollar in Ether already to secure the Ether domains. Even secondary markets for the Ethereum Names are opening up. It feels a bit like the dotcom boom back then. Let's see if the names will become valuable at one point.
