    'Emo'

Hey i was wondering what everyone thinks of the fashion known as 'emo'. And no i am not talking about the actual people that describe themselves as 'emo'. The fashion being tight jeans, tight shirts, studded belt etc. Personally i think it looks awesome and lots of chicks think its hot. But yeah, whats everyone else's views on it?

Actually it's more of a "punk" look. Which The Ramones, and many other punk bands had. So don't call it "emo" :/, secondly I think it looks good, except the tight belt, but people I know, including myself have been wearing tighter shirts than the people where I used to live.

Thats the stereotype. Lots of people get the wrong idea. Originally the term 'emo' was a genre of music. It was shortened from 'emotional hardcore'.

"At the same time, use of the term "emo" expanded beyond the musical genre, which added to the confusion surrounding the term. The word "emo" became associated with open displays of strong emotion. Common fashion styles and attitudes that were becoming idiomatic of fans of similar "emo" bands also began to be referred to as "emo." As a result, bands that were loosely associated with "emo" trends or simply demonstrated emotion began to be referred to as emo"

Emo is a very broad term and so its really difficult to explain since everyone has different ideas. It also gets mixed up with 'gothic' etc. But i'm just mainly discussing the fashion.

"Emo is also often associated with a certain fashion. The term "emo" is sometimes stereotyped with tight jeans on males and females alike, long fringe (bangs) brushed to one side of the face or over one or both eyes, dyed black, straight hair, tight t-shirts (sometimes short sleeved) which often bear the names of emo bands (or other designer shirts), studded belts, belt buckles, canvas sneakers or skate shoes or other black shoes (often old and beaten up) and thick, black horn-rimmed glasses.[13][14][15] Emo fashion has changed with time. Early trends included straight, unparted hair, tightly fitting sweaters, button-down shirts, and work jackets.[citation needed] This fashion has at times been characterized as a fad.[16]"

Isn't punk more wearing leather clothing?

the "emo" fashion in itself isn't that bad, some thing of it more than a fashion statement " its not a fashion statement its a death wish"

I went through the emo fashion stage, it was rather different, I don't mind people who do the emo look. I just hate those who commit suicide.

It's ok, but I don't see how any guy can wear jeans as tight as some do ... It can't be healthy, lol

Hahah yeah i was thinking the same thing. Apparently its really hard to get everything in there, but once your wearing them then its ok and isn't uncomfortable or anything. Since some chick told me that i should wear them and i was like 'i dunno.. i don't think real guys are able to wear them..' lol.

I am sorry but if you think "emo" clothing is like a punk look then your a idiot, it's mainly a transvestite style of either skater clothing or a poser goth look. An if you enjoy the look of a transvestite or like to wear it yourself then I hope you and your girlfriend named georgina have a good time.

I don't like it. Far too many people afflicted by such a grim and common taste.

People should dress characteristically, letting themselves be reflected through their clothing, rather than just wearing what everyone else seems to wear, or striving to fit into a category or stereotype.

Excuse me? Are you calling me a transvestite? Honestly, you're calling people who skate "transvestites" what makes them so? Also it's not "your an idiot" it's "you're an idiot", practice what you preach. Also if you don't believe me, take a look for yourself.

Ok fair enough, i don't really like wearing belts either coz they can be incredibly uncomfortable at times, like when your sitting down etc. But i think they look good which makes up for it lol.

And for those who don't really know what look i'm talking about, heres a picture:

That guy is from the band 'The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus'. I just cropped it out of a picture of the whole band.
